Background: I've been wanting something yellow gold but it didn't necessarily need to be DY. However, I really do like DY. Pendant size across is 13mm, square citrine in 18kt gold, it cost ~$420 @ the DY outlet.

Dilema: I haven't been sure if I really like the pendant or not. Also, I think it hangs slightly crooked and that has been bothering me. Thirdly, a coworker said it looks "manish/manly." Lastly, I can't afford the chain right now they run about $1K for a DY mediumish size 18kt gold chain so I have it on a random gold chain I already own.

Questions: Do you like it or not? Do you think my money can be better spent? I am allowed to return it.

I just want to say that I think it's beautiful and not a least bit manly. However I do agree with the others. A thicker chain would be better and probably a bit shorter too.

Yes, thicker chain, definitely. Not manish at all - agree with above poster - obnoxious comment. All said, my initial vibe from you is that you are not in love with it so I think you should return it. It's too much money to be out for something your heart is not palpitating over. I am currently lusting after a DY ring and my heart skips a beat when I look at it...I think that is how you should be feeling!

I agree that your co-worker isn't very tactful - WTF??

Anyway - I also think that the pendant should be worn on a thicker, shorter chain. I would advise that you try it on with one before you decide - you might really like it! If not, I'd return it...

If you decide to keep it - I think you could put it on any thicker, shorter chain - it certainly doesn't have to be DY!

I think it is pretty and not manly at all - what a terrible thing for your co-worker to say - but if you don't love it, you won't wear it very much, so return it for something you love.
