Hi all,

I just received a pair of plain black leather Princetown loafers I bought from VC. They are a tad snug since I have a bit of a high arch. I love the look and the next size up is way too big. Since I can't return them, is there any way to stretch them? It's a bit more difficult since they don't have a back. Has anyone had success stretching theirs?

I believe someone here posted about stretching her leather shoes by using the sock and heat method. If I'm not mistaken you have to wear very thick socks 1-2 pairs and then using a hair dryer and while wearing the shoes you heat them up for 30 secs or so.

There are plenty of products on the market for 'stretching' shoes. Just dab on where it feels tight and put on the shoes. Leather shoes, esp Gucci loafers will give anyway, and if they're just a little snug they'll be the perfect size once worn in a little.

Unless they're tight all over don't force on with 2 pairs of socks. Just wear as you would normally and potter around the house in the evening, every day for a week and they'll give. Basically use them as slippers for a while.

I would advise against using a hair dryer or any other 'unnatural heat source' ever on/around leather shoes, leather contains moisture, moisture evaporates with heat, when it cools again it contracts and/or go hard.

Unless the fit is unbearable, I wouldn't worry too much. I have the same shoe and the leather has softened considerably with normal wear. I too was a bit disappointed with the fit straight out of the box, but now they're so comfortable I have to stop myself from wearing them everyday.
