I Need Bag Recommendations (first time buyer) HELP!

Hello, I am in the market for my first "luxury" bag. I have owned cheaper "designer" bags but this will be my first time taking the plunge and spending the money on something more luxury. I'm having a hard time finding some bags that are in my budget and that I like. My two favorites at the moment are the Burberry medium banner bag in house check and the Mulberry small bayswater double zip tote however I would like to look at lots more before I make my decision. I was wondering if anyone had any bag recommendations to help me with my search. I have a few requirements:

-Preferably under 1700 cad, absolutely no more than 2000.
- I'm not the biggest Louis Vuitton fan
-Must be large enough to fit an Ipad but not much bigger ( I am 5'1 and most bags look far to0 big and awkward on me)
-Quality is key, I'm looking for a life time bag that will be able to take a bit of a beating (not that I'm going to rough with it, I just don't want a high maintenance bag)
-I'm looking for something with a classy and timeless "preppy" style
-Something that will also hold its value pretty well
-MUST have a boutique or store that carries them in Canada so I can actually see it in person.

Also, what do you guys think of the two bags mentioned above? How is the quality? Are they worth the price? Do you think they will hold their value decently well?

I love the mulberry idea, though Burberry is nice too. I love the idea of a classic camel tote. I don't own either but want my next bag to be a mulberry.

Chloe are the sturdiest designer bags I own. Bottega is my favorite brand for classic. Ferregamo and prada also makes lovely sturdy bags.
