Hello,
I am looking for a classic bag and am thinking between these two (Christian Dior and Balenciaga)
All ideas are very helpful to me

Tks!
Lili.
Don't know why you'd be in the wrong forum? Seems like the right place to me...
But you may want to be more specific. Right now you'll get Balenciaga people day "Balenciaga, and Dior people saying "Dior", which isn't very helpful. What are you looking for, a work bag, a general all day bag? Evening? Would this be an everyday bag or do you rotate frequently? What are you asking about, quality or leather, workmanship, longevity of style? What's you personal style? Do you like structured or non-structured bags? Would you only consider new or is pre-loved OK?

Magic Moderator must have sprinkled some fairy thread dust. This thread was in a different forum previously.

IMO Balenciaga bags don't wear well at all.

This is unfortunately true. There are issues with color fading, hardware tarnishing and the corners almost immediately start showing wear. That is why I let go of all of my Balenciaga collection, except one City that I used for the airport/travel.

But then as others suggested, these two brands have a very different aesthetic. You could choose Balenciaga if you're into the more casual look, and don't mind slouchy bags. If you prefer structure and longevity, I recommend Dior. Bags like the Lady Dior are never out of style!

I have several Balenciaga bags. Yes there were years where colours faded. I find the bags wear well. It’ll depend on the type of leather, calf and chèvre are hardier than agneau but I have bags that are fifteen years old that still look great.

I still love Bal Bags - I've sold nearly all of mine due to them not aging gracefully x
