We used to use winders, but are moving away from them. They shorten the time that your watch has between servicing. If you have a watch on a winder or wear it 24/7, you will need to service it a lot sooner as it is having constant wear. If you have a watch that’s very difficult to set, having it on a winder is definitely a convenience. But having to service a watch for $150 more frequently than you need to can add up if you have several watches, or a collection...
Part of my daily routine is winding my watches. It’s sort of meditative.
