Santa was good to me......

This is a amethyst parure dated from approx. 1810 ish.

The gold work is called cannetille, it is individually twisted components that are soldered together. This was more popular in the early 1800s in the wealthier circles but fell out of favour as it was very labour intensive.

The crucifix pendant is also a brooch and the earring drops may be removed so the smaller amethysts only hang from the ears. The crucifix can be worn on a chain also. There are many possibilities for wear.

I am a firm believer in jewellery is made to be worn. Her first outing was shopping with hubby and the kids!!

my second gift is a 13ct blue zircon in a handmade platinum ring from the 1920s, stamped Walton&Co, which was apparently akin to Tiffany in the late 1800s to early 1900s. The zircon is an Old European Cut.

I had never seen a zircon before but was mesmerized by the refraction coming of this stone. it is very difficult to capture on the iPhone but I have done my best. First picture is off the website, shows the chubby crown and the diamond detail in the basket as well as the baguettes. Others are my effort (excuse the photography!!! haha)

Wow, what stunning pieces! The workmanship on the amethyst pieces and the blue zircon ring looks amazing. I'm glad you're going to wear it all and enjoy it; I agree with you that that's what jewelry is made for. Congrats!
