I have spent many years buying coach bags and a lot of them I have liked and some not so much. But nowI I have decided to go back in time. I just bought the red bucket bag from ebay. This is quite an old gal. When this bag was new I was young. I wonder about the life it had all these years past. She is no longer bright red but somewhat faded and a bit worn on the inside. Well I am faded a bit now too and also worn on the inside. Since I do not have a camera you will have to look at my avatar. I plan to write a little bio of my bag and imagine all of the things she went through from her home in Florida to the snows of Minnesota. I just love how this bag slumps when I set it down. We can have an interesting conversation.

I can't wait to read it! I bet the leather is so awesome. I want one of those in British Tan. Those vintage ones are the best.

Congratulations on your classic beauty! Boy, I hear ya. The 1st coach bag my mom bought me is the black bucket bag. I've still got it, too.

I loved what you wrote. Very interesting and entertaining. I just joined purse forum today so pardon if I say too much of the wrong thing but me being a writer, I couldn't resist writing about what I see. When I look at your bag and then I look at my interpretation of this author, I see a bag that comes from an exquisite maker that pays attention to detail and uses only the finest quality components. This bag has curves in all of the right places so it holds all of the contents in and it holds it's self up with dignity and class. It's color is elegant and bold, yet not loud and obnoxious so it is able to appeal to almost every situation. This bag is strong and soft at the same time. It demands respect in the most subtle way. In it's own simplicity it is elegant and beautiful without having to outrageously declare it. This is why people smile at the bag and genuinely love it because it's a perfect bag and gets along with everything in a wardrobe with no complications. Yes, it may have some years, but the beauty is that it's just a number and all it does is makes the leather more alluring. You don't give this bag enough credit. I hope you will try the bag on in front of the mirror and give it another look. It took me a while ( AND A REALLY UNHEALTHY MARRIAGE and divorce) to learn that sometimes it just takes a second look at a bag ;)

This is just a beautifully written piece which has totally captured the essence of a "bag." You're a wonderful writer. :smile1:

Love this. I too have an "old bag," only it is a black bucket bag, probably the same age as your red one. I still have that bag which I loved dearly and carried for quite a long time. (I have a City bag which is even older). I look forward to reading the bio of your bag. :p

This is a great idea!

I bought my first Coach bag in the late 70s. I wish I knew what adventures my first Coach bags had after they left me!
I've thought about the adventures my bags that I let go of would have too. Particularly when the buyer sends me a message expressing how pleased she is. One I always remember was MK bag sold to a woman in NY (Manhattan). She was so excited and I was happy to think the bag went to someone in the big city who loved her.

Thank you for all of your replies. I took her out for the first time last Sunday. Right now I am calling her Big Red. I made the mistake of putting too much in her, kind of like when I overeat and with my winter coat I suffered from heaviness on my shoulder but dang how great she looks when she is set down, the sinking of her sides and her class. So next time we go out together she will only carry the minimum. It is amazing how soft the leather still is and how she suffers from no scratches or scuff marks on the outside. Talk about graceful aging. I think I's jealous.
