I dipped into my local outlet yesterday to kill some time and not intending to buy anything. I saw this bag on the deletes shelf and immediately became obsessed with it. I could not put it down. It is the Poppy Small Tote and I got it for a song (just under $100). What I cannot figure out (and neither could the SA ) is what type of leather is this? I know it is not pebbled, smooth, or patent. From doing a little research I think it is the waxed leather, but I am not sure. I like the distressed look of the leather, it kind of reminds me of the distressed leather of Balenciaga bags. Totes have become a bit of an obsession with me as of late and this one is the perfect size.

Some of my older Madison and Poppy items came in a shiny leather, like the Madison shoulder bag at the link below. It's not patent and I don't think it is waxed, but it has been specially treated with something. Back when this bag was new it was called "Madison leather". Anyway, it holds up well in all-kinds of weather and stays nice and shiny.

Thanks for the info!! I am so glad that it holds up well. I had the studded duffle and had to quit using it because at least 4 of the studs came off (one of them left a huge snag in a cardigan I knitted). The distressed look is what drew me to it and the fact it was very plain with the only indications it was Coach was by the hangtags.

What color is the lining on this one.....I have this tote in two other colors and it's the perfect size for me, I keep eyeing this black one on the FOS but I don't know the lining color. TIA :D

Yup, waxed leather. I have the big sister version of the same bag, the Glam Tote, in the same black waxed, and it's indestructible. I travel several times a year for work, and that Glam is my go-to travel bag. It can take being knocked around, stuffed with junk, rain, snow...whatever gets thrown at it, it takes it, and keeps on looking brand new. It also goes with everything and is lightweight and so comfy to carry. It will also soften more with use. I love mine! Congrats - you made a great choice!

There must be a couple of different versions of this bag. I just got this from FOS and the lining on mine is turquoise. My hangtags are different colors than the ones pictured here as well. I have no idea if FOS is shipping out both versions. Just something to keep in mind if you are ordering online.

I didn't get this from the FOS though, I got it from the local outlet. There is a bulls eye on the creed though, so it was probably a return at some point.

You need to take your studded duffle back to Coach and ask for a refund or exchange it for another bag you can use.

Yes, sorry, I meant to quote the person who wanted to know the lining color as a basis for deciding to get the bag. Just wanted her to know that there was more than one possibility. :)

I have this bag. Love it! It's waxed leather. You can beat it, and it looks great! I got it last year at the outlet for around $70. Mine is light blue inside, though. It was missing some tags. They gave me some extras at the outlet.
