Do you have a list of bags that you feel would make your collection complete?

I am trying to make a list like this, to have a clear goal to aim for, to not lose focus on my way there, as it is so easy to get distracted and just spend all the savings on buying all the gorgeous bags that will come my way before I have achieved my "perfect collection"!

The list will probably change over time, and since I am quite new to this designer handbag buying-thing, I am still figuring out what I truly need and use!

Are you doing something similar? What would the "perfect" collection be to you?

I don't mean that I am going to only buy X, Y, Z bags and then I'll be done, but I would like to do my best to achieve a good base BEFORE I start making a lot of less thought-out decisions just "for fun". I'm sure that I will fail at least a million times, but I figured it's worth a try!

I have a wishlist, and I only ever add bags onto there when I‘ve done enough research and make sure they fit my lifestyle, budget, be sure to know all the pro‘s and con‘s about the bag. That‘s how I make sure I don‘t just buy random pretty bags that end up not working out and were a waste of money.
BUT the thing is, there is no such a thing as a perfect collection. I ticked off everything on my wishlist and I was in the mindset of like „This is the last bag I want, then my collection is complete, I‘m not even liking any other bags.“ Guess what? I bought the last bag on my wishlist, I couldn‘t even enjoy it properly because I already started looking for it in other colours and sizes. Since then, I‘ve added two more bags and now my mind is all over the place like „I want this, I want that“

Make a categorised wish list eg. Work, casual, travel etc

Funny you pose this question as I was just looking at my 'lust list' yesterday and realized certain bags have been on one version of the list or another for almost 8 years *gasp* I took this approach of a list in an effort to keep my bag buying in check. It's worked for shoes, jewelry and clothing by forcing me to review what I have and what I really need.

I don't think I'll ever have the perfect collection as my tastes change. I do think, however, that once I get the remaining 6 bags on my list I'll feel a little rush. Maybe I'll pop a bottle of champagne or something.

While I allow myself impulse buys, I stick to certain rules no matter what the trends are. For instance, based on my experience with an old bag of mine, I've finally admitted to myself that the Celine trio won't work for me. Same for the LV Saumur. I also know I like monotone-color/single colorway bags so I never let myself buy a tricolor/multi-color bag though I had opportunities to do so. Same with the large logo or patches trend - I know it won't work for me so why bother? I've also got a few rules I like to follow to keep me out of trouble too.

Anyway, what are the first items on your wishlist?

I had two - a M Alexa and a LC LPC Mini. I have both now. I think I've bought three bags this year - one of them my new work bag (Boss Taylor), the other one a Kipling Amiel for travel and the third one was the LPC. I'm not looking or wanting another bag as I feel I have everything I need and more. The "more" part of my collection is slowly making an exit.

Instead of picking a specific bag, I have a list of the type of bag I need. I'm also fairly new to the world of designer handbags, so my list is mostly colours and occasions, and then I have a list of brands I tend to like and not stray from. I usually have only one daily handbag that I wear into the ground before I buy a new one, and this has to be neutral, big and well made, and not expensive because I wreak havoc on my bags.

For special occasions, I want one bag of each color: red, blue, brown, green, beige, black, white, gold and silver. I feel like that covers pretty much everything. This is the high end bag collection of my dreams. Right now, I have a red LV, a patterned black Gucci, a green Kate Spade, a silver Prada and a brown LV. White and gold are the lowest on my priority list, and I would like maybe a classic solid black since my black one right now is very dramatic and a statement piece. I also would like at least one Chanel and one Dior bag, but I'm working my way up to that right now.

And one day I would like a statement exotic leather bag but that's a long way off in the future.

WISHLIST
•Chanel black quilted caviar leather jumbo flap/double flap with GHW
•GG Supreme backpack - large size
•Hermes Kelly 28 or 32, Sellier/Retourne, gold hardware, epsom or chèvre(Gold)
•Chanel le boy - GHW, grey or green or navy (medium)
PURSE PEACE

In my collection currently
•Speedy 30 DE
•Neverful GM DE
•Alma BB DE
•Céline Edge in Red
•Givenchy Antigone medium in navy - goat leather
Mansur Gavriel bucket bag - Black/Flamma
Gucci Padlock supreme
•Gucci marmont matelasse camera bag small

Thinking of selling the Mansur Gavriel and the speedy 30 (I think a speedy B in the same size and print would fit my current lifestyle better)

...real PURSE PEACE.

Rather than purse peace, for me it’s more about brand peace. I find I tend to obsess about a specific brand and will stalk Insta and boutiques to browse and buy.

My main brand obsessions are Celine, Chanel and now Hermes.

Circumstances have conspired to help me achieve peace - with Phoebe’s departure and aggressive Chanel price hikes. Luckily I’ve pretty much got all the Celine and Chanel bags I want.

Hermes is new and I’m still learning about the brand. Since price and availability will make this brand a slow burn, I’m enjoying peace with my two HG bags from them. I may add more in future but I’m pretty happy where I am right now. Now giving my poor wallet a much needed break by focusing on H scarves, bracelets and SLGs for now.

There's no way for someone else to tell you what a good base will be because your life will be different than others'. I'd recommend looking at what you have and use now and using that as a baseline to look at what's out there. If you're focused on buying things based on an arbitrary list rather than letting purchases happen organically, you'll wind up having a lot of bags sitting in the closet. Everyone's collection is different and that's what makes us unique.
