I am sooo excited! I just ordered my Speedy 35 from the LV in Fashion Valley Mall. They are shipping it to the Scottsdale LV (near my house) and I am picking it up on Wednesday!! To all of you who visit AZ in the future, the SA's at the Scottsdale LV are so nice and go out of their way, especially Melanie, who arranged the bag transfer (not normally in their policy to ship to another store once paid for, just the billing address). Any care tips you experts have for me and my first LV?

Congrats!!

Did the Scottsdale LV not have one in stock?

Thanks, guys:)

It is the monogram Speedy.

The Scottsdale location had one, but I wanted one made from the France location, so I had to call around and finally found it in San Diego's Fashion Valley Mall.

Any care tips/suggestions? I want to have this bag forever:rolleyes:

Congrats on an amazing bag (I have one too)! With new vachetta, I always tan it, apply leather conditioner and spray.

Thanks for the care advice:) Do you all like the leather with the patina? I know it is inevidable, but I loooooove the light leather like when the bag is brand new...any suggestions on how to keep the leather light for as long as possible? Or does nothing help?

LOL I know the french SA you are talking about...I spoke with him on the phone and I must have caught him on a good day cuz he was actually fairly nice. However, there is a younger guy who works there who is kinda of a :censor: . I hate when SA's try to make you feel like YOU are lucky that THEY are helping you...and that is EXACTLY what he tries to do:rant: . Oh, well...the other SAs there seem pretty nice...LOL I think that I might have been a pain in the butt b/c I was always in there windowshopping:D . This is my first LV bag so I wanted to make sure that I bought one that I will love forever:)

PS--on www.dlisted.blogspot.com, there is a pic of the American Idol contestant Catherine McFee (sp??) and her Speedy 35. It looks so gorgeous on her!

OK, this has me intrigued. I too am/was looking for a 35 made in France. I posted a few days ago about trying to find a 30, but after trying on a 35 on Sunday, I decided that is the better size for me. I finally found one yesterday at the Century City LV. I got it today, and it has a small blemish on the canvas  ...so I was calling around to see if I could possibly find another one.

One of many that I called was Fashion Valley (this was before I saw that you posted you wanted one made in France) and I was told by a SA that this store does not do stock checks! Grrrrr. I told her fine, I'll call another LV. She said OK, and hung up!

Did Melanie help you find one made in France? Maybe I should talk to her instead.

Bjara-- I feel your pain, sweetie! However, Melanie did not help me find my bag, she just arranged to (after I paid for it via telephone) have the San Diego store ship it to the Scottsdale store so that I could inspect it for defects before I purchased it. Apparently, that is not standard protocol for LV-- if you do a charge and send like I did, they only like to send it to the billing address.

I actually had to do all of the 'legwork' myself. Don't let Fashion Valley tell you that they do not do stock checks-- They did one for me on Friday!! I would just call back until you talk to a nice SA who will peek for you. I happened to luck out--the girl who checked for me said that the one she found made in France was the first one that she looked at!!

Whatever you do, don't give up and 'settle'--believe me, some SAs will make you feel stupid for wanting one made from France. Don't let them--YOU are the one spending your hard earned money! Just be a pain in the butt like I was :D and believe me, you will find one. BTW, which LV are you closest to?

Also, last time I checked Ebay, there was a lightly used, mint condition speedy 35 for sale for like $479...it looked authentic...maybe look that route if nothing else pans out. :( Good luck! If I can be of any other help, please let me know:)

Congrats on your new speedy! That is great service indeed. I've never had a problem at Fashion Square LV. The SAs are generally nice. There is a younger man there who is as aloof as can be....I'll bet it's the same guy! I'll be sure to ask for Melanie next time I go!

As far as care goes don't leave it in the heat or sun too long. Taking it in the rain is also a nono unless you treat it first (of course that's not a big problem now lol). A lot of gals here suggest apple garde. Don't leave it in a hot tunk or the leather will darken. Hope this helps. I'd love to see pics when you get it!

Hmmm....maybe I will call back tomorrow and tell them I KNOW that they do stock checks!

I am closest to South Coast Plaza LV & South Coast Plaza Saks LV. They both checked their stock for me while I was there on Sunday, so I know they looked. Yesterday, before I found one, I called all the LA and Bev. Hills stores, and found one at the Century City LV. Really, the blemish on it is soooooo tiny, I had to look at it close-up with a flash light and a magnifying mirror. I am pretty sure it is just a tiny nick, about the size of one of the zillions of texture bumps on the canvas. But it bugs me... If I can't find one anywhere else, I will most likely keep this one. I think it will be OK in the long run, I just want to make SURE that it won't magnify later on with use.

I will call a few more stores tomorrow. If you wouldn't mind, can you PM me the stores that you did call, so I won't duplicate and waste time?

I saw that too...but for now, I just can't bring myself to buy a pre-owned bag. I just don't know if I could enjoy it as much as a brand new "start the patina myself from scratch" one.

I live in AZ also, so I have to go to Scottsdale to get my bags too!
A lot of the SAs there are nice, but there are definitely a few bad ones. My SA is Nancy, she's theeeeee best and I won't buy unless she's there! :D
