I was really shy about my pieces before....I dont know if its the aging thing but Ive become bolder with my jewelry selections of late.

I didnt want to cause any attention, so I would try and get pieces that are more muted and small.....but latley, Im really drawn toward more unique and big pieces.....I do feel a hint of hesitation when I finally decide thinking, "I cant do this for everyday, can I?"

Do you guys have the same thoughts when purchasing pieces?? I want to get over this hump, and your opinions will help me!

*** Oops, I did not spell the thread header right, so sorry.....****

I love wearing big pieces! I think it's all about balance and taste, and I'm sure you have both. Go for it and be proud! It's just jewelry, have fun with it! What are you worried about?

My main concern is appropriateness for everyday wear and getting the "look", I guess I do worry alittle about being too eye catching with it on....

I love it when other women seem so confident about wearing their bling out and about....Im not sure why I feel so weird about it for myself.....

Don't be shy at all!! It's not about the size of the bling, it's the amount that matters. At least that's what I think! If you're gonna wear one huge ring, don't wear a bracelet. As simple as that!
The bigger, the less!

Now go get some more big bling!

Take it in little steps. Work your way up to it. Wear one piece and see how it "feels". If you're wearing expensive jewelry, only you know what you paid for it, or what it's worth. If it makes you feel better, lie if asked. Say it's costume.

I have lots of nice stuff and I like to wear it. I don't fling my hand at my friends and say "see what I'm wearing today!!!". I mind my own business. And I honestly believe that most people really don't care.

For me, the secret is one big piece at a time! I love big, bold necklaces, and wear them a lot. But not with bold earrings. I either wear studs or no earrings at all. When I wear a chandelier earring, I wear an understated necklace, or none at all. When I wear a bold ring, it's just one bold one, not one on each hand.

And yes, I do bold jewelry for every day. Just like heels and expensive bags. Great with jeans and great with something dressy. I even wear bold jewelry and expensive bags (but not heels) with sweats.

Costume jewelry is the first thought I had with my first purchase of a big piece...I rationalized it by saying to myself, "it can look fake, its not that bad"...lol

The only reason you feel weird about it is because it is new to you. We always feel out of our element when doing some unfamiliar, but the more we do it the more confident we become. It is likely your jewelry will receive compliments which will only reinforce you feeling good about wearing the bolder pieces, and soon it will be second-nature for you!
