Hi ladies i just want to share an amazing surprise I had awhile ago, I am so happy i couldn't contain it! :D

if some of you can remember i asked your opinions on what watch will i get for my hubby in his coming birthday.

Link - http://forum.purseblog.com/the-jewelry-box/please-help-a-wifey-in-need-832461.html

I didnt want to get something that he wouldnt like since its a big purchase for me so i told him the plan and that we should visit an AD to try the watches.

We went today to the Rolex boutique and to my surprise the associates there knows my hubby??? hmm???

When we sat down he told me that "Baby, this year i want to celebrate my birthday differently. I'll give you a gift rather than you giving me."

I was pleasantly surprised and could not believe whats happening. I thought it was a dream but my hubby confessed that he saved behind my back to buy me something I wanted, at the same time communicating with the same AD as I was and planning on letting me try the watches instead of him? (he's so sneaky but how can i get mad at my hubby for this? hehe..)

I was so overwhelmed at my hubby that i don't know which watch to get?!

I want to ask you ladies which you prefer of the watches i have tried, i never got a good look at them at the store because i wasn't prepared for what my hubby did.

I am looking at:

1. Rolex LadyDatejust(26mm) full everose gold w/ white roman dial (love the romans)

2. Rolex LadyDatejust(26mm) full everose gold w/ pink diamond dial (can't go wrong with diamonds hehe..)

(actual watch on my wrist, in my excitement it's the only one i had a chance to photograph)

3. Rolex LadyDatejust(26mm) full yellow gold w/ white roman dial

4. Rolex LadyDatejust(26mm) full yellow gold; diamond bezel w/ MOP diamond dial

No. 4 is the most expensive of the four so i really need to think about this one.

I love both rose and yellow gold but which will be more timeless? afraid the rose gold will look too modern? while afraid the yellow gold will look to gaudy?

also i have yellow, rose, and white gold jewelry so its much more difficult to decide.

I choose the 26mm size because i already have a Datejust 31mm in SS/whitegold w/ jubilee diamond dial and wanted a little diversity.

Here's a photo of my current watches(31mmDatejust and Reverso):

here's one more photo of a 26mm size on my wrist: (picture of choice No. 2)

Thank you for sharing my joy and for helping me out in my decision, it will be my colored gold watch so your guidance will be much appreciated.

What a nice surprise! It's funny that you were asking which watch to get your DH, and he's been visiting the Rolex dealer looking at watches for you, LOL.

They're all gorgeous, but my favorite is #4 (the most expensive, go figure ). I think the rose gold is beautiful; I have just always preferred yellow gold for myself. I don't think the yellow gold would look gaudy at all. I'm not sure on the rose gold being too modern...a lot of people love rose gold, so I don't really see it becoming out of style anytime soon. Who knows, in time it may become a classic like yellow gold has. I think you should go with your heart on this. Get the one that speaks to YOU the most, without putting a lot of thought into the "what ifs" of later on down the road. I tend to think that any Rolex is a classic watch, regardless of the metal color.

Love number 4, but personally I would choose number 2 - it depends on your style and if you want a dressy watch (the one with more diamonds is certainly more dressy).

Awww what a sweet surprise! :D

I personally don't like diamond markers; it looks too dressy IMO if you have diamonds on both the dial and bezel.

I'd pick #4 with Roman markers or either #1 or #3 depending on the colour of gold you like.

Thanks storm spirit! yes i was a great surprise indeed! :smile1:

how do you guys choose which is a better color of gold? yellow and rose gold?

its so hard to choose? :giggles:

Since your 31mm has diamonds, go for yellow gold with roman numerals but with MOP dial, so classic. A dark MOP, else a white one. That would be exactly my choice if I ever get a second Rolex. :smile1:

The all diamond bezel is the perfect one but you have to decide if it suits your lifestyle, I think it would be way too much for me.

Try both yellow and rose gold, put them together for a side by side comparison. You will find one that suits your skin tone best.

Looking forward to see your final decision. :yahoo:

I would go back to the dealer with your round watch, a picture of the rectangular watch, and a clear head. Try everything on and look in a full length mirror. Wear neutral clothing, something you would wear on a daily basis, including daily jewelry.

Wear one of your existing watches on one wrist, and try the new watches on the other wrist (the one you wear watches on, with your rings if they go on the watch hand). Stand in front of the mirror with your wrists displayed as long as you need to to feel good about your decision. Ask the SAs opinion too. (You don't need to agree with it.)

Enjoy your new watch!

Tried this and i found out that i like the white roman face, actually my SA suggested the Chocolate brown dial with roman VI in diamonds.

I actually noticed that the rose gold watch matches with white gold/platinum jewelry

I mix metal frequently but never in a big piece like a watch.

The question is does yellow gold really clashes with white gold? any comments ladies? :smile1:

I own the #4 with Roman numerals but in a
size 31mm.
I bet you could get this combo in a 26mm
size too.
I had the diamond markers before but
the Roman numerals really stand out to
me.

Wow! do you have a photo so that i have an idea how it would look? thank you so much! :smile1:

I'm actually quite biased to roman numerals since i feel its so classy :smile1:

Wow what a nice surprise! My choice would be the first. I love the rose gold and it looks so classy with the white face and simple roman numerals. For the size, it should fit your wrist - I´m not a fan of oversized watches, because I prefer the classy look. So either 26 mm or 31 mm.
Lucky you!!!
