Update on hummingbird cake: from the description, I was expecting something fruity with a hint of spice. The spice was there: cinnamon, allspice? But not fruity enough for me. I was expecting overt tastes of sweet banana and tart pineapple. I'll have to find another cafe serving this in Singapore or try baking one myself

Thanks for the update! I would have expected a very fruity taste too based on the pictures and descriptions I saw on Google.

wow, so many interesting flavors! I can't imagine marinara on a pancake.

Part 2 — Asia vaca food

Some Japanese street food — Taiyaki (@Sunshine mama — I got the red bean one), sweet potato Creme brûlée, tamagoyaki (sweet rolled omelette)

IMG_1148.jpegIMG_1134.jpegIMG_1121.jpegIMG_1120.jpeg

Costco Japan — chicken stick and potato (humongous portion), pineapple soft serve, Hokkaido (brown sugar) soft serve, and iced cold brew (so good)

IMG_1161.jpegIMG_1214.jpeg

MontBlanc dessert (chestnut puree over cream and pie crust)

IMG_1563.jpeg

Had dim sum (Chinese tapas) in HK — this item was the most interesting looking. They look like pears but are savory glutinous rice puff with ground meat inside. These normally look like light brown fried balls in most restaurants.

IMG_1552.jpeg

Finally, had a number of interesting items at Starbucks , like sweet potato danish, lemon tart, matcha mochi muffin, chocolate black tea Frap. Wished I had time and room in my tummy to try other items. The most interesting was the black sesame cream Frap with tofu pudding!
