I saw a navy Regina with pink flowers on eBay. It didn't seem to be getting much action, so I vowed that I would win it. But I didn't put it in my auction sniper, because I was watching a few other scarves as well.

Long story short: I was extremely busy yesterday and didn't have a chance to get on line at all. You guessed it: the auction ended. What's more, the scarf went for a ridiculously low price -- only $123. The last time I saw the Regina in this colorway (which was the first time I ever bid on an Hermes scarf), I came close to paying a lot more than that, before a sniper came in and snatched it out from under me.

I feel like such an idiot. :push: Has anybody else pulled a similar stupid stunt when buying Hermes?

Yup. I have. I was watching a Touch Me in red/black. I had let another one go a day earlier because it was much more expensive than the one I was watching. I had put a snipe in for the cheaper one and would have won it if - IF the auction hadn't ended early.
That's ebay. You win some, you lose some. There will be another.

Oh have I ever done stupid stuff like this. I'm still kicking myself over missing out on the first Reve d' Australie in the gold colorway that slipped away.

It's at those moments I have to remind myself that a) it's just a scarf and b) somthing else I really want will show up soon. And I've found that it always does.

I lost two grails that way...complete bonehead stuff....

one time I was going to end an auction the old fashioned way....a duel to the finish in the last seconds, and someone brought me cake and I completely forgot the auction!!!

CAKE!!!

CAKE would make me forget an auction too.

Cookies, no. If they were LaDuree macaroons, YES, I'd forget.

Nothing beats cake except cake & ice cream!

I have forgotten more auctions then remembered. See what you have to look forward to with menopause.:shame:

Oh Honey, I am so there with you on the menopause thing. It's completely driving me--and my family-- crazy. :sweatdrop:

The other day when I forgot to buy some special snacks for my son at the grocery store he told me to "stop 'pausing' and start remembering." Good thing he's a cute little sh*i or I'd have :boxing:.

Yup. Done it more times than I care to count. Don't worry, Regina in navy comes up fairly regularly. ((((((((hug)))))))) Sympathy to you!

The story of my life, and I'm nowhere near menopause. I have no excuse! :P
The worst was a Grand Fonds in Fuschia with 10 minutes left, TEN MINUTES, and I got distracted by going to the fridge for a snack and before I knew it, I was cleaning out the stupid thing and forgot about the auction. CLEANING OUT THE FRIDGE, for goodness sakes. I am hardly the happy homemaker. :shame:

Gosh, thanks, everyone. This makes me feel so much better (about pari-menopause, which I'm experiencing now, as well as forgetting the auction).

I had to laugh out loud when I read your post, though, CB. "CAKE!!!" That would definitely make me forget, too.

I did something kind of similar--I overlooked a scarf I probably would have bid on if I'd noticed it. It's a design I like but had never seen in a colorway that would work for me, and I missed it because the name of the scarf wasn't in the listing. I just noticed it when I was searching completed scarf listings. It sold for pretty cheap too. Argh. At least now I know that colorway exists!
