So for our anniversary we decided to get a new setting. I originally wanted a Vatche Royal Crown but when we priced it, the cost was way too high, and it would require some modifications that the company was unwilling to make. (Adding a "bridge" below the wire work so a band wouldn't eat at the wires)
Like an IDIOT I took it to the guy we bought the ring from, even though he's done bad work in the past. I found a new shank/setting that I LOVED in a setting book they had that would be a similar shank but using my same head I currently have. All they had to do was pop my head off the other shank and laser-weld the thing together. But instead they decided to solder, and they melted the head while trying to adhere it to the shank...thankfully my stone was out of the head at the time. Id have killed.
Anyway...when I got it back last week--2 weeks past due--it was not right. They told me i was "seeing things". Um, it's clearly not right, stand it upside down by the head and it falls to the right. So I took it home to avoid that moron from dealing with it and paid for the thing, though not what they wanted me to pay. And I took it right to someone I know does better work, who should've done it in the first place.
When we get the ring back tomorrow/Friday (FINALLY) we are filing a BBB complaint against them to recoup the costs incurred by having their "Quality Jewelry Repair" corrected by someone who isn't an inept moron.
Im pretty sure we'll be out that additional money but I have totally had it. This whole thing has me losing sleep, having nightmares and being general uneasy knowing that I haven't had my e-ring for over a month, and that I can't be sure it'll be perfect when I get it back.
I am going NUTS hoping the time passes faster.
