Hypothetically, say it's your birthday soon, do you ask for Chanel?

In the event a guy actually finds this thread, because their SO asks for a Chanel bag...please do the following...

1. Buy Chanel Bag
2. Put Chanel Bag in Coach box.
3. Leave a message on the box that says, "You can't ask someone for love. It just happens."

Any girl that asks for Chanel deserves to be tormented for exactly 2 minutes.

:roflmfao: my heart would drop!

My husband kept asking me what I wanted for my birthday. Finally, when I found the perfect Chanel purse, I told him last night. What a DH! He was like, "well, i asked you that a few days ago. You should have told me then... now, it's too late." And then he went on and on about how many purses I have (I think he has this idea a girl only needs a couple of purses), and that I haven't used some of them yet. Well, I told him I'm getting the purse anyway... and to teach him a lesson, I paid through paypal using his CC! I'll have to remember to attach a thank you note on his cc bill when it comes in the mail. Finally, after all these years, a bday gift I don't have to pretend to like! ;)

Lol I love how this was your first post!!! How wonderful!!!

I do sometimes but only to help my parents out because they never know what to get for me. Last birthday, I asked for a handheld mirror. My mum could not find one. I saw one in one of those One Dollar Shops and told mum about it. She got it for me and I love it!! It's a gorgeous!! And it's a present from dear mum!!!

But I would never ever ask a Chanel from anyone. It's too expensive and I think my family and friends have better use of their money than buying me a Chanel.

I think for me it depends on your relationship with the person and how much their past gifts have been worth, money-wise. If you have a group of friends all spending $200-$300 on small gifts you may not want, it might make sense to ask them to pool their money and get you a purse you really want, or for everyone to give you a Saks/NM giftcard.

If it was parents or a partner who routinely have spent a lot of money on you in the past, then yeah, I think it's okay to ask if you know they're already going to be spending that kind of money, why not spend it on something you'll really love? There's a big difference between that and pressuring someone into buying you something they can't really afford.

(And in any case, if you know they don't support your purse obsession and would not willingly contribute to it, definitely ask for a gift card, because obviously they have no sense and a self-selected present from them would probably not be right for you. Some people have no respect for the fact that when you buy someone a present, it ought to be something *they want* and not something *you think they need*.)

really? hmm.. if i ask for money, haha.. i know exactly how much i will get. and beelieve me, no where near close to an inch of price of a bag. now i'm depressed for my birthday. lol

yes. really. enough for a chanel. but i dont neccessarily spend on one, depends on my mood. i am not a die hard fan of anything(except my son).

but, :P(shake hands here) if i were getting some money/gift card from my in laws, i know exactly how much i will get, and believe me no where near close to an inch of price of a bag!

...like Chanel a lot, and many other stuff, but definitely positively can live without.

Without sounding spoiled, and sometimes I am, that is exactly what I did last October for my birthday. I asked for a Chanel, my very first one. I told my husband approximately how much it was(the classic flap med/large in caviar leather and silver hardware)but I still looked around at different bags to make sure the one I chose was the one that was going to be my birthday gift from him.He took me to the Bahamas,I packed my new Chanel,(on board)which he had not seen as of yet by the way, and then on my birthday I opened it and he saw it for the very first time. He loved it too and said I was worth it. Yes I am blessed and very lucky to have him as my husband. Later that night we went gambling in the casino at Atlantis and then went in the Gucci store there and I was allowed to pick one out, that is when I got The "Royal" a large toffee suede tote/hobo with dark brown leather trim and handles.Went back to our suite and lets just say I gave him a night he has not forgot. Just my way of thanking him for all his generosity on that birthday.
