I live in a humid climate with no central heating/cooling in my house so during the summer, I’ve found that my house can get so hot (like 40C or 100F+) where my skincare/makeup goes bad or melts. Last year, I bought a whole wine fridge to store my skincare/makeup (lol) so that during the summer it doesn’t go bad since the fridge is constantly between 15-20C or 60-70F.

I am looking to purchase my first Chanel Classic Flap in Caviar and wondering if I can store it on a shelf in my large “wine fridge” so that the leather doesn’t go bad during the summer when it’s extremely hot and humid? It might look weird but it’s the only “safe” space that I can think of to not ruin the bag. I have considered getting a portable AC or dehumidifier for the whole room but we wouldn’t leave it on 24/7, so there would be periods where the room would get really humid/hot again.

Is this feasible? What do people who live in hot and humid climates with luxury leather bags do?

I have some experience with this. I don’t suggest storing it in the fridge as this is not the optimum temperature for the leather. The bag will be vulnerable at any high temperature especially with high humidity. I live between two countries, one with a very hot and humid climate. I keep my bags in a room with constant AC with the temperature kept between 20-23c at all times. In addition I have a dehumidifier and keep the humidity between 55-60%. In these conditions I haven’t had any issues with mould or changes to the leather. Any time in especially
high humidity would leave the bags vulnerable in my experience
