I bought a turquoise large stone ring set in silver a few months ago but it has been languishing in my jewellery box as I only really wear yellow gold jewellery. This is such a shame as the stone is lovely, so I am considering having it reset in yellow gold.

The only problem is, I need inspiration as to design! I could go with something similar to the current design or for something completely different. I want to showcase the gorgeous turquoise but also have something wearable for everyday. My style is classic, traditional but with a modern twist (don't like anything too fussy or vintage looking). I would be grateful for any ideas - if you can include photos that would be fab! TIA!

I think when reset with a less perfect shape it does look more fresh and modern, the stone is the centre of attention. Either way the stone itself is gorgeous with any setting.
Exemple of what I mean by less perfect shape, this is from etsy:

Oooh thanks for the ideas ladies, I love them! Definitely liking the idea of a matte finish and possibly having the stone set sideways/horizontally (forget the proper term!) rather than vertically as it is now.

I love diamond halos but think I prefer the simplicity of just the stone set in yellow gold, for some reason I don't like turquoise as a stone combined with diamonds.

Ah thank you! To be honest it was very inexpensive as a ring, I just fell in love with the stone! Sadly white metals don't look great on me, so it has been sitting neglected in my jewellery box.

I do love the look of rose gold but sadly it doesn't look great on me either :-( I have yellow tones in my skin so need the warmth of yellow gold.

Thanks! I think that this is what I'm going to do - haven't made a final decision yet on which way round the stone will be but love the idea of a simple matte yellow gold setting!
