Hi everyone!

I couldn’t find a thread specific for fine jewelry maintenance. So I thought I’d start one :)

Does anyone have any of the coco crush rings in beige gold? I’m looking to buy a large size ($3500) but am vacillating between yellow gold and beige gold.

Is the beige gold like the Cartier pink gold in the sense that you cannot polish it more than once or twice otherwise the color wears off completely?

Any info would be appreciated! I’ve been googling this and have checked the Chanel website. There’s no specific information about whether beige gold can be polished to get rid of scratches.

Thank you!

I would not recommend overly polishing white or rose gold because they are plated and everytime you polish them you are slowly reaching that natural color of gold underneath (yellow). The only way to fix this is simply by taking it to your jeweler to get it redipped/replated. Ultimately, there is no such thing as “white gold” or “rose gold”, they are just plated. “White gold” getting Rhodium plated and “Rose Gold” getting plated with a mix of Copper and other alloys i believe. One you shouldnt worry too much about is Gold-Gold, yellow gold.

Thank you for this context! I’m leaning more towards the yellow gold because of the low maintenance factor.
But the beige gold is so pretty....and I can’t stop looking at it haha.

Haha yeah, Rose Gold is pretty but i would only recommend purchasing it from companies that provide a one time purchase life time warranty that provides unlimited re-dippings/re-platings. I dont think Chanel provides any of that sort of service, but Kay Jewelers does provide not only that warranty for their jewelry but also services any sort of jewelry thats not even theirs for servicing like replating, usually takes about 2 weeks and i think it costs anywhere around $80.

That’s good to know. I do have rose gold pieces that would probably need to be redipped in years to come and Kay Jewelers seem to be everywhere :) Thanks!

Hi @LilyLA ! This is a great question and I had many similar questions when I was shopping for my wedding band (I chose yellow gold diamond coco crush). Always excited to see more resources or info sharing on this fine jewelers collection!

When shopping for my engagement ring I was about to choose rose gold but didn’t like it on my skin tone much. However I learned a lot haha. So while white gold is typically plated with palladium, giving it that platinum color, its natural color is a slightly yellow-white color if left unplated. White gold is made by mixing gold with silver, Palladium, etc to give it that more pastel yellow hue.

However, yellow gold and rose gold fine jewelry are not coated, and if cut in half, you will see that same exact color in the center. The color comes into play through a copper alloy ratio, more copper = rose and a little less copper = yellow. I asked my Chanel SA whether beige was coated and she said it is not. From my research it seems this isn’t common place, even dating back to some early rose gold found in Russia etc.

I think you’d be safe getting a beige gold without concern of wearing down the color. I will say when I tried it on I found it quite subtle and not as “pink” as many rose gold rings I tried on, so if you are more into the pink hue it may not fit the bill. I will also say I tried one large and medium (for fun because I’d love to add another eventually hehe) and all of the rings, including my band, are incredibly comfortable! There is a soft rounded element that doesn’t make it a comfort fit exactly, but it is so easy to wear that you can’t go wrong especially as an everyday ring.

well this ended up being a novel but let us know what you decide to do! I look forward to the eye candy.

Hi @platanoparty ! Oh my gosh - i love this. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! Did you get the mini gold band with diamonds? I bet that looks so beautiful stacked against your engagement ring.

When i spoke to the Chanel SA at the jewelry counter, he said I should be able to "polish" it with no issue as well, which is on par with what you mentioned as well. I didn't realize copper was a part of rose gold jewelry until you and @Ricks Krispies mentioned it.

The coco crush line is just stunning. I have a Cartier love ring in pink gold and have been contemplating getting the juste un clou ring, but the coco crush rings just do me in each time haha! I was a bit bummed with the price increase because the large went up $200, but I couldn't get myself to pull the trigger last month when I was so unsure about which color to go for! Knowing that I might be safe against wearing down the color does put me at ease. I really love the Chanel beige gold color! But yellow gold is just so timeless

I'm hoping to pull the trigger sometime in the fall. After I recover from 21A....because that season is going to be wild

Thanks again!

Oh gosh I feel just the same about 21A!!!! I hope you can get it though, maybe subsidize the other 21A purchases with gift cards to department stores and perhaps save the cash for Chanel boutique and the coco crush. At least that’s what I would do, save my Nordstrom and saks notes for Chanel that I know they’ll have hehe.

I’m glad that we could be helpful for you! I learned so many crazy things about jewelry in recent years I never thought I would know lol. The good thing is, be it long lasting wear or avoiding allergies or anything in between, fine jewelry should be a safe investment and really low maintenance frankly, especially if you don’t have any little gems in it. I absolutely love my ring. In all honesty I bought another wedding band from the same jeweler as my engagement ring, but found it sooooo uncomfortable that I knew I wouldn’t be happy with it even if the style was pretty. The coco crush has been a dream to wear and I feel the diamonds are very secure. Also, while 18k gold of any color is still considered good enough for everyday wear, gold is naturally still a soft metal. That said, no scratches in sight and I got it earlier this month. I even forgot to take it off one day when I went to physical therapy and held some exercise equipment that was also metal, and it still just looks lovely and like new! I don’t feel you have to baby these pieces. I’ve included a photo for you to check out below

I also did as much research as I could via YouTube and I haven’t seen too many videos that are not unboxings, but this lady has a beige gold ring that is a little older and can show both color and wear. She also is showcasing some other Cartier jewelry so you can get a gist of color variation perhaps and perhaps some things you own and how they look together. I absolutely adore the Cartier lines you mentioned too and while they’re classic, the coco crush is a bit more unusual but just as lovely. You can have a really cool stack that makes people wonder “ooh that’s pretty, but what is it??” It feels like a nice Chanel homage without being on the nose imo!

Can you ladies who own the Coco Crush ring, specifically the mini version, how does the sizing go? I wear a Cartier small love ring on my ring finger in size 49. I am going this Saturday to try out 49, 50 and 51.

I find it personally true to size. I have a size 58 Cartier ring for my index but found it too big so when I purchased my coco crush I sized down to a 57 for my index finger. That being said, I have the small size coco crush. The mini size isn’t as hollow as the small size inside. So not sure if that impacts sizing :)
