Hi Guys! Does anybody know how to remove surface discolouration from Prada nylon? The bag in question is a blue, re-nylon re-edition 2000 mini-bag. I'm not sure how the stains got on the bag, but I've only had it for a couple of months so it's annoying that it's already showing this much wear. I'm hesitant to use water on it because I've been told by a sales associate at Prada not to get the nylon wet (they've had to replace a baseball cap for me because of water making the inside layer of nylon bubble up). I have a friend with a black vintage nylon backpack that she literally throws in the washing machine and has no issues, but I have a feeling that will not work with my bag LOL. Any ideas? I am attaching pictures of the bag and its stains for reference. Thank you in advance!

The nylon will bubble if it is glued to a structured backing, like in the bill of a baseball cap. If it is not glued to a backing, then it will not bubble. For instance, Prada makes a lot of nylon and re-nylon clothes that can be washed with water.

I have a nylon Prada work bag where the nylon is not glued to a backing, and so I have soaked certain areas when I wanted to clean it (or it got soaked in the rain). There is no bubbling on that.

I don't think the nylon on your bag is glued to a backing, although I'm not sure because I don't own the bag and I haven't touched it at a boutique to see. It looks like the structure of your bag is derived from the piping at the edges and the curved zipper top rather than glued nylon. If this is indeed the case, then you can try to moisten a cleaning cloth (like a microfiber eyeglasses cloth) and try to work at the stains to see if they come off.

You can also bring the bag back to Prada and see if they can clean it for you.

Prada nylon bags are basically indestructible. I wore one of my messenger bags to the beach 11 years ago. We got clobbered by several waves by walking along the shore, it rained nearly the entire time. All the contents of my bag stayed dry and to this day, the bag still looks good as new. That said, this was an older nylon bag and I can't speak to the durability of these new nylon bags.

Try using a mild dish soap with a warm soapy washcloth on one of the spots. Let it air dry. If it cleaned the areas, do the rest of them. Otherwise, I'd just live with it. It's really not that noticeable.

My girl Gracie's first trip to the beach. She didn't quite know what to make of the moving sand under her feet. :giggle:

I second the above suggestion. I would also use professional dry cleaning as an alternative choice too? Not necessary dry clean this item, but to get their recommendation on what to do ;)
