Hi girls,
I just bought two gorgeous silver pendants (for those Canadians here, they are the Joannie Rochette I Heart Mom skating pendants from Birks! http://www.birks.com/en/5000316413 ) that I plan to keep for my little girls (it's a limited edition thing) for 4-5 years until they are both skating a lot and old enough/physically large enough to love them/carry them off! :)

I'm going to tuck them in the safe, and right now they are in their Birks boxes which have an inner velvet box and the outer blue "paper" box.

Is there anything I can do further that you know of to keep them shiny and brand new looking in a few years when I take them out?

Thanks in advance!!

Jen

I would put them in the ziplocks and then back in the boxes. You can usually find anti-tarnish paper where you buy silverware. Sometimes jewelry stores will have them too.

I have an anti tarnish jewlery box made by Lori Greiner.
She sells them on QVC and I put all my silver Jewelry in it and it never gets tarnished. This works for me, you should try one.
Good Luck!

Anti-tarnish paper is the only thing I know that works. Tiffany's doesn't sell it but they have tons of it that they throw away daily. Next time you're in there you should ask them for some or when you buy a silver piece ask them if you can have the paper it came in.

Take a glass casserole dish.

Line it with tin foil, shiny side up.

Drop 3-4 tbsp of baking soda on the tin foil.

Pour 1 litre of boiling hot water in the dish, which will dissolve the baking soda on the tin foil.

Drop in your sterling piece. Watch the tarnish transfer to the tin foil.

Remove (careful, it's hot!) and rinse with clean water.

Thanks for the advice. I just ordered some of this paper off eBay (NMA) and hope that it will work. I never knew that I should worry about this until I was storing my Pandora necklace in its original box and it looks like the chain started to tarnish
