I know my SA tells me to use a non-alcoholic wipe.
The dirt is sticking to the sticky. I think if put it in the fridge and rolled the stickyness off it may lessen the impact. It looks like there's a little wear on the piping, that, you won't be able to do anything about unfortunately.
