how to clean satin-covered leather shoes? water?

  1. i have a luverly pair of vera wang white satin slingbacks i wore for my wedding, that my sister now wants to borrow for hers..
    they're grubby from being worn, dust/dirt from the ground dusted into the tips..

    would it be safe to clean them with water? i'm thinking to dry them afterward stuffed to keep their shape...
    but i don't know how fine shoe leather reacts to getting wet.. would it change size or shape, or get really stiff when dry?

  2. im confused..are they satin or leather? if u go to a shoe hospital, u can get a cleaner thats for satin shoes, u just scrub them w/ the cleaner and the dirt comes right off
