How should I place these shelves?

This might belong in Arts&Crafts, but it's borderline and I figured it'd get better exposure here...
So I'm redoing my bathroom and for the life of me I can't decide how to place my shelves! I put paper the same size as the shelves on the wall to represent each placing. Which do you like best?

It depends on what you're going to put on the shelves. If you want them to be more utilitarian for towels or something, then I think 3 or 5 makes the most sense. If they will be strictly decorative, then what will you put on them? Candles, photo frames, etc.? I would have to know the size of the item before I could tell you which way I'd do it

I'm using them for decoration-- books, knick knacks, vases, etc. nothing too heavy or tall.

Out of your pics, I would prefer option 1, however I think they would look best straight up and down. Keep things symmetrical, dont try to overdo it.
