I've been carry LVs as a mommy of two toddlers and find them indestructible and practical. I'm really digging Balenciaga bags now and am wondering how practical they are with little kids. I've heard they are bit fragile and would hate to drop so much money on something that could easily get destroyed. Also, if you're a mommy a toddler or two, what size would you recommend? TIA!

LOL i was just thinking about starting a thread just for mommies and their bbags...since having my daughter almost 3 months ago and from NY, i started to wonder which size is best for my everyday wear...i carried a black ggh part-time up until i had my baby which i miss as my go-to bag...now with an infant, no way i can throw the bag over my shoulders when i have her in the carrier...i would say go with the part-time or city depending how much you have to carry (not sure if you have to carry the same mommy necessities as i do:p)..the day bag was also one of my options but i opted out of that because i don't like the way the day bag breaks in...with that said, i'm thinking of getting a work GH bag which can hook onto my stroller easily ;) i wonder how heavy it'll be if its one of the baby in carrier days , then again my arms are slightly buffer than before!

where art thou pursesandpugs ?!?! would greatly appreciate some new mommies feedback :smile1:

I have a 2 year old and a 4 month old. I find the Velo in Hamilton leather to be adequate for my needs. It is large enough for a bottle of water, snacks, sippy cup and a couple of diapers.

The Velo is a large style, has the option of a cross-body strap, and the Hamilton leather is pretty light weight but more durable feeling than the "regular" Bal leather my City is made of. I don't know what that leather is called but it's the thin sort of crackly looking one!

I think the velo is a great style for a Mommy.
But - lets face it - for an almost $2,000 bag -how can anything about it be practical? It is a wild indulgence - unless you are part of the 1% - hehe

Hi Mabli,

I just had my baby girl 6 weeks ago and am also coming up with the perfect mom bag/diaper bag dilemma. I also live in nyc and just wondering what was the outcome of your search. I'm thinking I need a good bag for when using the carrier as well and is something that fits well over the shoulders a good option or is crossbody? I'm thinking hobo style might be best - like the balenciaga day or ysl roady. Would love to know what you think. TIA.

I used a cheap diaper bag bought from Babies R Us when my boy was 1~3 months to carry his bottles and diapers. I carried my own smaller shoulder bags for my belongings. When my boy's older, I bought a LV Neverfull in Damier Ebene. It's very practical and easy to get things in and out. Now my boy's three I carry whichever bag I want with a small Longchamp tote I put in his stroller. But if I'm out with him alone without DH, I tend to use bags that can be put on the shoulder.

IMHO, Bal bags in regular lambskin is not suitable for mom with small kids. Though they're very light weight, you do need to baby them. Unless you're okay with stinky fingers and unexpected stains onto the bag.

Agree with everyone, stick to the canvas LV's for a while. But consider a Bal SLG in a color you love to carry your personal stuff inside your mom bag - look at the Bal Make-Up clutch, or one of the Bal leather bracelets.

My boy is 3 months old now and I bought the Gucci diaper bag. First I wasn't sure because it's just canvas but I'm loving it. ( And Daddy can carry it too, so I don't have to go with two bags...)
When I am alone and with the stroller ( I've got a Joolz Day ) the diaper bag usually hangs from the handlebar and I am using bags I can carry crossbody. Usually I am picking one of my Velos if I am choosing Balenciaga.
The Velos-style o.k. but with lighter colors you'll probably have color transfer while wearing jeans. I was out with my city once as well ( carried on shoulder ) and it worked as well. But I agree that Balenciaga bags are not the best bags for mommys, if you are not willing to take a seperate diaper bag...

Part time is my best bet now that my DD is 2. When she was younger, Chanel WOC and diapers bag are my best bet.

My DD threw up a lot. You won't want anything to ruin your designer purses. I'd say go with cheap and lower maintenance diapers bag. You can use your designer piece when they grow up enough not to be messy.

Yes - true story - I took my 2 year old son to a local park the other day with my husband, our stroller and my blush Town bag. Found a nice spot to have a snack. My son had an apple while wandering around us and the buggy - half way through he choked on some skin and then followed closely by him vomiting over part of my Town bag!! Luckily had baby wipes on hand and made a quick rescue. I think my husband thought my reaction to him being sick was a bit off "Oh NO MY BAG" instead of "Oh NO poor you...."

I don't think they are a good choice for a mommy (if you are using it as a diaper bag). I have older kids now (8 and almost 7) and I don't even like to use some of my Bbags around them because my 7 year old is kind of destructive. I had a great black Kate Spade diaper bag and was indestructible.
