How often can you place Podium Orders & Special Orders?

Hi

Can anyone tell me the truth about how often you can place a podium order and special order?

I'm based in London and in March 2008 when I placed what my SA called a rack order (as what I wanted wasn't on the Podium list but was still just an ordinary leather rather than exotic), I was told that I wouldn't be able to place another order when the list opened again in September 2008 and would have to wait until the following year.

This month I have just placed a special order for a croc Birkin (am awaiting confirmation) and she told me that I wouldn't be able to place another special order until my croc came in, but that hopefully next year she would be able to do something for me and get me back on the ordinary leather list. I presume that she meant I'll then be able to alternate between ordinary and special orders if I want to.

Does this sound typical? If anyone wouldn't mind sharing their ordering experiences I'd really appreciate it.

I'm not 100% sure if this is correct... but I heard from my SA that you can place 1 order per year.

there are not hard and fast rules. it all depends on your relationship with that particular store/SA -

Also, do you know if they tie up overseas orders and off-the-shelf purchases with UK ones? If I am lucky enough to find anything in Paris when I go over in May I'm just wondering whether it will be an issue if they're able to find out I've already got a special order.
