What? Is there any reason behind that?

The watch may be about 50 g so let's say 10 to 15 g is RG and thereof 75 % Au so roughly 10 g which is 600 USD, maybe up to 1000. Still, don't get that. When interested in real Gold buy real Gold.

Was just curious how much gold exactly they used to make the watch and how much is their mark up.

For example, Cartier’s love bracelet weighs about 30grams, hence the cost of the 18k gold itself is only around 1350 USD. The remaining amount is their mark up, craftsmanship, branding or whatever you wanna call it.
