so, I was good, but then decided I needed a belt bag... because I have zero willpower and they look mega cool slung over outfits.
I found a RM leopard one for a good deal on ebay and am currently eyeballing a green quilted one too.
Do I NEED two? How functional are they? How often do you carry yours if you own one?

Nowadays they're my go-to bag when going out. I have a Gucci Ophidia and a Nike one. The Gucci one I use for going out to dinner and errands, while the Nike one is sportier and gets used for errands and walks. I wouldn't mind adding another one because provided they have well-placed compartments, they're hands free and convenient to use. I also think they can be more ergonomic than crossbody bags. I wear my belt bags across my chest or sometimes at the waist (side or center). It comes in handy when you're wearing a dress without pockets or need to conceal a food baby ;)

They sound totally different! If you love them and will wear them, then why not?
I haven't received the first one yet!
I'm just curious how functional people find them or have I just ventured down a hole and want to buy more bags and no place to wear them. Although TBF, I think they would be highly functional for errands and/or quick trips out for pickups and glamorous strolls through the isles of Target or the pharmacy (hahaha)

I have a few belt bags that I love and wear all the time. I’m all about being handsfree, especially when shopping or running errands. Given the current situation, it’s also beneficial to not have to worry about holding bag handles when trying to use hand sanitizer and such. I think if you go with leather or a more formal material it makes them more versatile to dress up or down and ensure you can get sufficient use out of them. I even wear one to work with my business casual suits, although I do tend to favour a more menswear vibe which may make things easier.

I take a tote to work, because it fits everything I would need for 8 hours behind a chair. However I'm taking less and less out when I run errands or go to the grocery store. I also LOVE the look of a belt bag slung over a jacket - when it is cooler (it has been in the high 90s here) I wear a band tee with a wide assortment of blazers over the top. I've seen them styled that way and it just looks SO COOL.
Thanks for your input!

This blog post on belt bags reminded me of this thread (in case any one needed enabling):

Thanks for sharing! Lucky was actually one of my favorite magazines of years gone by so I remember Kim France! I ended up purchasing the quilted green one because I'm challenging myself to purchase something other than black...and green is a new-ish fave color.

If you like the one you bought and wearing one works for you, I say go for it. If you haven't gotten it yet, maybe wait till you try it out. I can see how people like them. I only see them worn irl and in photos crossbody; does anyone wear them around the waist?? They're not my cup of tea, but I am probably still traumatized from the first wave back in the day

i now own several. One from Rebecca Minkoff and three from an Atlanta based, female run leather workshop called Glad&Young (these are my favorite). They are the perfect Covid errand bag because my purse stays on me. I prefer them slung across my chest as opposed to around my waist, but I DID wear it that way for dog walking this morning and didn't hate it. I also have multiple clients using them to hold just necessities when they come in for their appointments.
I know it is a to each their own thing, but for me I've found they are perfect for our new normal and an excellent hands free option!

This depends solely on your own needs and wants. If you only carry belt bags you could have 15 pieces and it would make sense. If you're like me, as in you wear belt bags when it's absolutely necessary, one, two or a few is enough.

I have 3 belt/bum bags, and all have a different purpose; one is for hiking and other outdoor activities (it has two bottle holders and lots of compartments etc), the second one is for when I need to carry just a few small items like passport, phone and wallet and I want to keep the bag under my jacket, and the third one is really roomy so I can fit a small water bottle, wallet, phone, a snack and even an umbrella in it.
I wear my bumbags as crossbody bags.
