I've got two pearl strands: a 32, which I can wear single or doubled up, and an 18" of lesser quality that I can wear as a single.

I have no idea how to wear pearls.

I've tried them and no matter what, I just can't seem to bond with them and wear them well.

How are you all wearing your pearls?

I actually sometimes wear them with a t-shirt and jeans. If you dress that way at all, give it a try. May feel weird at first but go with it! I especially wear my black pearls with jeans.

Like Chessmont, I will wear my pearls with jeans & a cute top. I will mix & layer different lengths & sizes too, depending on the top I'm wearing. There 's no one right way to wear your pearls. It's really about personal taste & style.

I wear mine with solid colors, or if a print, a pattern that is considerably smaller or larger than the individual pearls. If I wear them with jeans, I layer them with other chains for a casual look.

If I wear a single strand, I like it as a choker or 16" length. Or I layer with one I can wrap around a few times.

Hope that helps!

Really like this thread! I struggle to wear my pearls too - I love them but I only wear them when I'm wearing solid colors and more formal clothes. Could any one share pictures of how they layer for ideas?

Great ideas! I would love to see pics too!
I know that longer pearl strands are considered more formal, but I always feel more casual with a longer pearl strand. I like to add the matching bracelet (making them about 24") to my pearls when I wear them with jeans. Somehow I feel less "Ozzie & Harriet" with them that way. anyone else care to comment on length?

ill have to take pics sometime... but I have these two identical freshwater 16" strands (inexpensive) that see the most wear either doubled up and knotted, layered together, or as a wrapped bracelet. the fact that they are smallish 5mm and imperfect make them more casual. plus i dont worry so much about causing blemishes :)

Imagine a pair of dark wash jeans, a grey v-neck cashmere sweater, and your 32" strand wrapped twice...allowing one to fall shorter than the other (closer to your neck but not choker style)....
Gunmetal monolo heels or even riding boots...
Another pretty idea is swap the sweater for a silk shirt (untucked)....
