Hi all, so I have very recently gotten into hermes and its leathers and I must say I love how they offer so many different colours since I love colours but it also makes it difficult because- which one do I pick?!?!

I've decided I'm pretty definitely a gold hardware girl but the problem is from the colours (and I know they will vary on the leather) but I've really taken to the ruby red with gold hardware BUT the problem is that day-to-day i definitely wear a lot more blues and my usual go to colour is more the cobalt blue/ colvert colour so I'm not sure what to do!

The ruby red just pops and looks gorgeous but the cobalt or colvert probably goes better with my day to day wardrobe... what to do? Has anyone ever had this dilemma?

The colours are quite magnificent indeed! I do understand your dilemma very well, and I think I am not alone in saying that sometimes, you will find yourself charmed by a colour that isn’t really you but is absolutely exquisite. That’s what SLGs are for :giggle:

Is there a particular bag shape that you are looking at in ruby red with GHW? That might also be a factor. If you want a “basic” on a showpiece shape (say Kelly or Birkin) that you’ll reach for without thinking, then yes, something that feels like a neutral to you would work best. The smaller or more understated the bags, the bolder you can go.

A few years back, I found myself in the opposite dilemma to yours, charmed by a vibrant turquoise and rouge vif, with red being my dominant tone. What I took into consideration was that I didn’t necessarily want a wardrobe and matching bag, but rather a pop of colour.

The route I eventually chose was to take a Bearn wallet, and the bag (a Plume) in red.

For a first bag, I think it makes more sense to go with the bag that goes with most of your closet and one that you can get a lot more use. You can then build on your collection and add more pop of color later. I find that my colorful bags certainly takes a lot more time in planning what to wear with them and there are many days where I’m in a rush and it is convenient to have more neutral bags that I can just grab and know that the bag goes with everything.

What a dilemma to have as both color ranges are gorgeous..
While you mention that day to day you wear mostly blues mixing up the blues could be fun.
I think you should see what is available at H to perhaps narrow your choice(s) & perhaps
explore the resale market.
The color should sing to you & you will likely know it when you see that "color"
I don't think there is any company that does a range of blues the way H does & putting that
pop of color for a SLG is fun..
Red is just a gorgeous pop of color & rather unexpected. So explore it all & enjoy the journey

I think the blues you mention and rich ruby red go very well together. If it makes your heart sing, I’d say definitely go for the red! Tonal dressing is nice but there is nothing wrong with a pop of colour

My first Hermes bag was a B30 in Rouge de Coeur. It's a beautiful red color. I knew my Birkin would not be a daily bag, so I loved having a red bag with a pop of color for those days I was going to carry my Birkin.

I love all three of these ideas and opinons! I'm going to have a further think you guys have given me some really great options tothink about. Thanks so much for the great opinions and options, they're things I've not thought of before!

I wonder if there's any point in maybe getting a red bag but a cobalt/colvert SLG... as the red does sing to be but the SLG which I would use more often could match more... :D

I couldn’t agree more. You’ll see the SLG a lot more than the bag, because you might not be swapping wallets as often as you swap bags!

I fell in love with the colour first ;) Ever since I saw a Balenciaga in turquoise I fell in love with the shade and variations of it. So when I ventured into H territory I knew I had to have a B in a turquoise shade. Regardless of what I usually wear (lots of black anyway). I never regretted choosing pop shades over neutrals first as my turquoise B always makes me smile when I look at her.
