Hi all,

I just recently bought my first second hand item and there were some marks that I wasn’t told about (I actually have another post going about it currently). How do I know if I got a good deal or if I’m getting ripped off? It’s a Boy bag, below retail and in pretty decent shape.

I have the option to return it for another few days and want to make sure I’m not making a mistake...

I think a “deal” is subjective so I would say what really defines it is how happy you are with the purchase. If you love the bag overall and are comfortable with the price you paid for the condition, I would say it was a good deal and to keep it, but if you’re not happy with it and think the marks will bother you long term, I would say return.

Looking at the bag, you may be able to clean the markings out yourself or take it to a leather service, it looks fixable!

3 words: Lots Of Research.
Buying second hand sometimes just takes time.

You have to compare prices from every website and everyone thats selling the same item you want.

Ask lots of questions to the buyer about the products, “how many people owned this bag?”, “is the interior in good condition?”, “does it have its original box, dust bag, authenticity card” etc.

Make sure they have pictures of every angle of the bag so you can look for any imperfections that will bother you/will become a problem.

and of course, make sure you buy from a website that authenticates the product after buying it or you can also try and show the pictures to an authenticator and see if they can authenticate it before purchasing it.

Best of luck!
