Everyone’s body chemistry is different when it comes to fragrance. What may smell great on one person may not on another.
Always spritz the sample or tester on your inside wrist. Do not rub togeather. Smell it, then note how it changes on you. Smell it again awhile later and see if you still like it. Note how long it lasts on you. Don’t try a whole bunch at once.
If testing at the store , remember if it’s on a card, the smell will be different on your skin. Try different ones until you find one you love. Ask the beauty advisor for help. They will ask which scents you like ( spicy, floral, sweet, green ect ) then narrow down the choices for you. That is what they are there for.
If you prefer to figure out what you may like before you go to the store, try
https://www.fragrantica.com/notes/ . You can identify smells you enjoy. At the bottom of each note they will have fragrances that contain it.
This website also lists almost every fragrance. When looking at a particular fragrance, to the left of the page it tells you alternate fragrances you may enjoy. I find this quite helpful.
A great alternate to edt and edp is the perfumed body lotions. Almost every fragrance has them. They tend to be a bit more subtle, if you’re concerned about over powering scents where you work.
When you find the one you want, take advantage of this time of year, by purchasing a gift set that includes the fragrance, body lotion and bath and shower gel. It’s always a really good value. If no sets are available, ask if they have a gift with purchase, as these often will have the bath products in trial sizes. ( For a longer lasting fragrance, layer bath products then end with a spritz )
Oddly enough, when I wear the lotions, I always get so many compliments on how good I smell.
Sorry for the long post. I sold high end fragrance and beauty products for many years. Hope this helps! Let us know which one you decide on. Have fun!
