I clean patent leather with just some water. I get a damp towel/cloth and just wipe over it. Usually works finger prints/minor dirt.
I have a few louis vuitton almas and a melrose in vernis (patent) and I always get the white small scratches on the bottom corners and handles and have found that mr. clean magic erasers with a little bit of water get them out in seconds!
