Ladies – I’d like to call upon you for your expert H advice.

I’ve finally managed to secure a position on the waiting list for a birkin. :yahoo: Whohoooo! :yahoo: But here’s my question… How does one transition from being on the waiting list to having the opportunity to place an SO?

Any advice/suggestions/thoughts will be greatly appreciated! TIA!

I also depends a lot upon the store and the unwritten policies of that store. Each store has a set quota of special items they can order, so may be reluctant to use those allotments on anything but big spending, established VIP clients. One way to feel out what your particular store is like is to bring it up with several different SA's and judge their responses.

I work with the same SA here on the west coast and she is lovely. I spoke to her on the phone and told her I was looking for a specific birkin; the next time I saw her she said she put me on the list for that bag. I was surprised that I didn't need to ask to be put on the list! I am certainly not a VIP client and usually buy normal leather goods, non-exotic bags, scarves, etc.

After my waiting list birkin arrives, should I try and hint about an a SO or is an SO an unattainable dream?

I would casually ask your SA about certain leather/color combinations that you know are probably SO and see what she says. Doesn't hurt to ask especially if she's always been good about finding things you want. It bodes well that she took it upon herself to put you on the waitlist after you mentioned the specific birkin.

Well I rang a small store here in the UK, regarding Kellys, as soon as i said i would like some info about the bag, the SA was like, oh we dont discuss bags over the phone, you should come in and check out the leathers and colours etc in the 'book'. So i just don't know, i'm sure you could just ask! x

SO = special order.
Usually a bag that has unique qualities, or a leather/color that might be difficult to aquire without ordering. A SO might have unique color combinations, contrasting lining. A person can't just choose anything, there are guidelines.
I think SOs are offered to a client.
