We have all (probably) seen the huge parures, collars and giant pendants a la David Webb, Verdura etc. You can often see mod examples on 1st Dibs or RobinKatzs instagram site. Whether it is a long chain with a huge pendant or a strand of humongous beads---how big is too big to wear with some regularity? I recently purchased a giant drop pendant. Imagine a golf ball in a drop shape. Obviously as its large it needs to hang lower to hang properly. I would love to know if you fellow jewelry aficionados wear any BIG jewelry out and about? Pictures most welcome.:D

I don't really have any pics or anything, but I just wear what I want when I want no matter how big it is. What's the point of spending large amounts of money (and big pieces are always pricey) on something you rarely wear?

First I didnt mean to imply I am spending $$$$$. Big and obvious can be hard to pull off whether its diamonds and emeralds or a costume piece...:)

Sorry. Even if it is a costume piece, I don't see any reason why you shouldn't enjoy it. In fact, I have the large the pear pendant from the Tony Duquette for Coach collection, and I certainly don't save for special occasions. I wear it whenever the mood strikes me even if I am just wearing jeans and a tee. I did post pics of the pendant itself in the Coach forum in case you're wondering what it looks like: http://forum.purseblog.com/coach/a-little-pce-bauble-reveal-735803.html

I think it depends on your frame and your overall style. For myself, I like larger pieces - necklaces, watches, bracelets, but not rings or earrings, for example. I love Iris Apfel and she definitely is a proponent of large, and more is more but it works for her and I love her style. I think it's hard to say for you without knowing what your preferences and approach to clothing and jewelry are.

More than anything else, I think projecting confidence and comfort in your own sense of style is what sells anything you wear. Some people can pull off the craziest things and it just works for them.

I find the older I get, the simpler and larger my jewelry gets. I used to like delicate chains and dangly earrings and multiple rings... now I'm all about only one focal piece and pieces that are complementary without being matchy-matchy.

Here is a pic of a recent piece.

Picked it up on holiday this summer when I realized I'd forgotten to bring any jewellery and had to attend a semi formal event

If you really love a piece and can afford it buy it.

If you love it wear it as long as you feel completely comfortable.

If it makes you feel great, go for it! I tend to like bigger jewelry pieces, though I can't personally always pull them off. The only down side is sometimes it can get tiring wearing something really heavy.
