How accurate is your Rolex?

HI Ladies,

Just wondering how well your Rolex keeps time. I have had mine serviced recently but I did notice that in about a week's time, it becomes slow by about 5 minutes. I wear it every day (well, maybe 6 out of 7 days) but I take it off when I come home. I have not used a watch winder.

Does this seem right? My cartier (and my cheapy quartz watches) are right on the money every time.

What is the solution? Servicing? Winding? Watch winder?

Thanks in advance for all your thoughts on this.

Hmmmm...mine keeps perfect time without use of a watch winder. If yours is losing (or gaining time), I would bring it to a dealer to have it checked out. Especially if you're wearing it on a regular basis.

Hmmm... now that I think about it, the watch seems to keep very good time on the days I have worn it, but if I don't wear it for one day, it gets about 4-5 mins off.

Should I be winding it or keeping it in a watch winder? Or do you think it needs servicing?

Mines really accurate,I had it serviced very recently, about 3 months ago and it came back gaining a little bit.I took it back, they sent it back adjusted the movement and its fine again now.Apparently its not an unusual thing?

I haven't had any problems with mine, yet. I take it off at night and wear it almost everyday except maybe skipping an occasional Sat. or Sun. I will hit the five year mark in Feb. should I still send it in for servicing?

All recent Rolexes (in the last decade or so) are COSC Certified. Meaning that they must be kept within a certain accuracy threshold. The acceptable loss/gain to attain the COSC is -+ 6 seconds.

If your Rolex came with a COSC certificate, and is losing/gaining more than 6 seconds, send it to your Authorized Dealer and have it serviced.

Service your Rolex every two years. The reason is that normal wear and tear of the automatic movement over the years will cause flecks of metallic dust and dried oiling fluid to build up. This sometimes will strain and stress the Rolex movement even more causing further deterioration of gears and moving parts inside the watch.

Some weeks I wear mine every day and the time is perfect. Other weeks I wear it only a couple of days and it poops out!

Considering how often you wear your's I would send it in for service.

Automatic watches are never as accurate as quartzes unfortunately. I've heard that accuracy within +/- 5 mins. a month is normal. Any more than that you may want to have it serviced as others here have suggested.
