I bought the Small Hourglass in the florescent pink color a few years ago, and it is one of my favorite statement bags. I took it all around Japan as my only handbag for a week. It's a very reasonable size that can fit most of what you might need (not pictured, but you could definitely fit a half-sized bottle of water if you needed to). The Mini, on the other hand, is extremely adorable, but can't fit much. (Though there is an XS size that is between these two, it looks much closer to the S than the mini)
The Mini is just about hand-sized, and just wide enough that you could use it as a dedicated card holder if you wanted to. I fit some cards, a rolled up mask, my car key, and a mini lip gloss. All the essentials except my phone. The strap can completely come off, or separate at the buckle.

I actually love how the two bags look when worn at the same time. I picked the blue color of the mini as a compliment to the pink. But I would be able to bring just the mini with me if I hold my phone in my hand (as for the S, I often slot my Galaxy S9 into the back outside pocket of the S for easy access)

I love the Hourglass bags so much. They look statement-y, but the larger ones are quite practical, and the mini is juuuuuuust usable. But the XS is just a little too small for what I want in a practical bag, and the M looks too big on me. Here's what the Mini and S look like on me together (I'm 5'5")
