Too Obsessed...

Does anyone have this bag? I am interested in it but worried about it getting banged up in the overhead (wouldn't check it). Wondering how it's held up for people.

I was going back and forth on this piece and did a lot of research, including looking at pictures of gently used Horizon 55 pieces for sale. The conclusion I made of it was that I personally couldn’t justify $3250 plus tax on a piece that will be handled so roughly. Even when placed in overhead bin (which is not guaranteed by any means whatsoever). You have the x ray scanners, General nicks and whatnot, plus the aluminum cane and leather trim get scuffed very easily. You will see scratches from day one. If you are the type of person that wants your pieces to look pristine for a long time, look elsewhere. I wound up getting a Rimowa Aluminum Hybrid piece and so far very happy with the quality at less than 1/3 of the price of the LV. Rimowa is considered a luxury luggage brand, in fact they have an all aluminum Dior Version that’s actually more expensive than the Horizon if you can believe that!

I have one. The aluminum handle will def get scratched no matter how careful you are. The only way to keep the canvas part relatively scratch free is to buy the cover that goes with the luggage. In addition, never let porter or anyone touch it during transport. Mine has scratches etc. on it due to letting porters handling it during various trips. At first it bothered me but since then I’ve let it go. Kinda like getting a new car... after couple dings and scratches, you learn to live with it and stop letting it bother you. At the end of the day, it’s a luggage not a purse; you can’t expect it to stay new as it obviously serves different purpose.

I have this Horizon 55 LV in Taiga. I’m surprised no one ever put clear bra on the aluminum rails on the back. I just paid $25 to an auto shop that does 3M clear bra and paint protection and they precisely applied 3M clear bra to the aluminum rails which looks much more aesthetically pleasing than the cheap plastic that comes on the rails everyone reports to be keeping on. It’s also substantially more protective.

Just advice- $25 3M clear paint protection film and it’s easily professionally protected and looks way better.

Matte Xpel clear Bra on both side rails. Prof install at auto shop. $25. Can’t even tell it’s there and it feels the same as without the clear bra. Handle has no clear bra installed protection. Have to feel the handle how it was meant/designed to be felt.

Hi, I’m buying horizon 55 and afraid of deep scratches. Your bag is looking flawless. Can I install by myself or have to professionally instal?

I still have the plastic protective stickers on my horizon and don’t plan to take them off. I’m hoping that they alone will be able to provide some protection from scratches especially as I use them with the black protective cover when travelling.

I googled the matt xpel clear recommended above and it’s not available where I am and even if it was I don’t have an auto shop that I would trust to install it. I’m actually curious if clear sticky wrap like the stationary kind would be as effective. It’s readily available from Amazon and you could apply it yourself if you trust that you have a steady hand.
