Hey everyone!

So my partner and I don't really celebrate Valentine's day in the commercial way (cards, gifts etc), but because it's right after my birthday (kaching!) I was thinking about maybe treating myself to a from-me-to-me pressie :smile1: and I'd love to upgrade my hoop earrings from silver to something better. I really like these from Blue Nile, they're perfect:

but I'm wondering, is it worth investing money for jewellery like hoop earrings to be made of platinum? As far as jewellery goes I doubt hoops face much wear and tear, so perhaps rhodium plated white gold would be sufficient for long lasting beautiful hoops? What do you think? The £££ I save will go towards my next piece of jewellery so will still be spent wisely ;)

Opinions please! And also any recommendations. I love the size of the blue nile ones, I wouldn't want to go much larger or any smaller.

Thank you!

Thanks people, good advice.

Blue Nile don't seem to stock them however. I'm based in the UK, does anyone have a good suggestion for where I can secure a pair from? It feels a little weird to get some from Amazon or eBay and I'm fairly clueless about good suppliers or stores.

I just looked at Blue Nile and saw several 14k white gold hoops. I guess if you want 18k, you'd have to look elsewhere.

For a classic pair of hoops like that, I'm sure you could find them pretty easily. I personally wouldn't spend the money for platinum unless I couldn't wear gold!
