What Hollywood scandals are absolutely fascinating to you?
(I got these from boston.com)

Long before the whole Ashlee Simpson SNL debacle, there was pop group Milli Vanilli. The duo's lip-syncing was exposed during a 1990 MTV performance when the track to "Girl You Know It's True" skipped and repeated the same line. Four days later their Grammy was rescinded.

(I remember being at dinner with my family and my dad told us about this. Looking back on it, I didn't realize how big it was . . . I was eleven at the time, but I listened to Blame It On the Rain and Girl You Know It's True all te time! Later on, I was fascinated by the E! True Hollywood Story on it.)

Whether or not it was an attention ploy, the Britney Spears - Madonna kiss at the 2003 MTV Music Awards caused quite the stir. Dressed as brides, the two singers along with fellow pop star Christina Aguilera exchanged kisses during a performace of a fusion of Madonna's songs "Hollywood" and "Like a Virgin." Madonna is still paying for the kiss, as she has recently had to explain to daughter Lourdes that Mommy is not gay.

(That started the whole 'rivalry' between Christina and Britney. Christina didn't like Britney getting the attention and the scandal, but it was kind of expected for Christina to do it, but not Britney! Also, this was the first VMA's after Britney and Justin broke up and during the kiss, the camera focused on Justin in the audience to get his reaction. I don't think he liked the camera in his face while he was watching the show!)

It was the "wardrobe malfunction" that gave way to "Nipplegate." When Justin Timberlake pulled a patch off the front of Janet Jackson's shirt during the 2004 Superbowl, crowds got quite the eyeful. At the next year's superbowl, restrictions were so tight that even The Rolling Stones were on a 5 second delay, with certain vocals muted so as not to upset the FCC.

(They made SUCH a big deal out of that! It wasn't like Janet flashed her hoo-ha or anything. I was watching that show with my parents. My mother completely missed it, but my dad and I were like, "What was THAT?" Part of me thinks it wasn't much of an accident though.)

You'd think that after British pop star George Michael's 1998 arrest for lewd conduct in a public restroom he would have learned to behave. The former Wham! member was arrested again in 2006 for drug possession. Let's hope that after all this, Michael still has his "faith."

(I'm more interested in the 1998 one more than the 2006 one. When I first heard about it, I thought, "He was in a stall! Big deal!" He came out shortly after that, and confirmed what most of us kind of already figured. Talking about it, George Michael once said, "If someone's waving their genatalia at you, you don't automatically assume they're a police officer." Then he made a video making fun of the whole thing.)

In 2004, home design and cooking tycoon Martha Stewart served five months in prison and another five on house arrest after she was found guilty of consipring with her stockbroker and lying to investigators about selling her shares of the biotech firm ImClone.

(I think this was such a witch hunt! I think they were harsh on her because they wanted to make an example of her, but I would've thought the house arrest would be enough. It's strange to think of someone as perfect as Martha Stewart spending time in prison. And I love how she got her career back after she was released. Her reality show didn't do too well, but her products are selling, and she still has her talk show.)

I never saw any of Lupe Valez's movies, but sadly, her death was more fascinating than her life.

After finding out she was pregnant, the father of her child refused to leave his wife. Devestated over the idea of having an illegitimate child (she was an extremely devout Catholic) she decided to kill herself.

She had a big dinner with her family, and then after they left, she put on her best pajamas, lit a bunch of candles and retired to bed after taking an overdose of secobarbitol, but instead of sending her to sleep the drug upset her stomach and she was actually found dead in her bathroom.
Her suicide note read, "To Harald, may God forgive you and forgive me too but I prefer to take my life away and our baby's before I bring him with shame or killing him, Lupe."
It has been said that she hit her head and drowned in the toilet afthttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Urban_mythhttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toilet-related_injuryer going to the bathroom to be sick. Logic suggests this is, in reality, extremely unlikely.

I heard about it on the pilot episode of Frasier. Roz said that Vélez's suicide was caused by a desire to be remembered after her career went downhill.

(These I got from msn.com)

Pee-Wee Herman Catches the Late Show
When Paul Reubens was busted outside a Sarasota, Fla., porno theater for allegedly bad-touching himself -- twice -- during a showing of the skin flick "Catalina Tiger Shark" in July 1991, the media and the public had a resounding answer to his nerdy alter ego's well-known catchphrase, "I know you are but what am I?" Suddenly, the man behind the rosy-cheeked, tight-suited perma-adolescent Pee-Wee Herman was branded a pervert. Faster than you could say "I'm rubber, you're glue," CBS had pulled reruns of "Pee-Wee's Playhouse," and Pee-Wee merchandise was yanked from store shelves. Though Reubens insisted he was innocent (he admitted he was in the theater but "never exposed himself or engaged in any other improper activities"), his career as he knew it was over. At least Reubens was able to find the funny in his shame: Two months after his arrest, he donned his Pee-Wee guise to open the MTV Video Music Awards, asking the cheering crowd, "Heard any good jokes lately?" He later pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of indecent exposure and coughed up a $50 fine. He bounced back with supporting roles in "
Batman Returns" and "Murphy Brown" before being hit with another scandal in 2001 -- this one involving a misdemeanor charge of child porn possession. Reubens maintains his innocence.

(He's an adult. He had a life outside his show. He's a heterosexual male and he was watching a porno movie. What did they think was going to happen? I think everyone made such a big deal over it because he was a host of a children's show. It wouldn't have been that big of a deal if he wasn't caught.

It's like when Jessica Biel was in Gear Magazine while she was still on 7th Heaven or when Melissa Joan Hart was in Maxim magazine while she was on Sabrina the Teenage Witch.

I get that Pee Wee's Playhouse, 7th Heaven and Sabrina the Teenage Witch wanted to portray wholesome images and wholesome characters, but at the same time, the actors are human beings and they want lives outside of the show and the character.)

Hugh Grant Is Caught in Flagrante Delicto
Before his fateful encounter with hooker Divine Brown in June 1995, Hugh Grant was best known as the stammering, floppy-haired charmer from "
Four Weddings and a Funeral" and the devoted beau of cleavage-baring starlet Elizabeth Hurley. That image disappeared the night he drove to a seedy part of Sunset Boulevard and picked up Brown. Within minutes, the pair was arrested for engaging in a lewd act (said act cost Grant $60). When police told Brown who her client was (he had called himself "Lewis"), she responded, "Who the hell is Hugh Grant?" Before long, everyone knew who the hell he was. The publicity was immediate and intense, especially in the actor's native Britain (blasted London's Sun tabloid, "You've Blown It, Hugh!"). Grant, upper lip stiff, decided to go forward with planned interviews to promote "Nine Months." First up was "The Tonight Show" with Jay Leno, who opened with, "What the hell were you thinking?" Grant's disarming response: "I did a bad thing, and there you have it." His witty and charming talk-show mea culpas provided public absolution, and he walked away with two years' probation, a $1,180 fine, Hurley's forgiveness, and a surging career.

(I loved how forgiving Elizabeth Hurley was, I love how apologetic Hugh Grant was, and I love how it didn't ruin his career. Even with that . . . unpleasantness, people still saw him as the adorably nervous, charmingly befuddled Englishman they were so used to in his movies.)
