Ok, everyone (esp in the west) loves to rave about high cheekbones and I'm SO CONFUSED because everyone I know with high cheekbones (most Asians) want to shave them as it makes us look big faced.........so what exactly counts as high cheekbones? Are Asian cheekbones high or are they just wide? Like what do people actually mean when they say high cheekbones are attractive because everytime I've seen a universally attractive person, they almost always have slim faces and low cheekbones.

Case in point:
I don't know if she added fillers to imitate high cheekbones or it's just weight gain but I think she looks better in the first pic with the slim face sans cheekbones - feel free to disagree if you think she looks better in the second pic which makes her eye asymmetry and overall facial asymmetry more obvious.

Exhibit A:
Commenting from a purely aesthetic perspective, right off the bat, I find Kim's face more visually appealing as opposed to the woman beside her who appears to have high cheekbones on the side - Kim's cheekbones appear to be more frontal and her face is notoriously slim even if she does have the cheekbone hollows on the sides.

Exhibit B:

By conventional beauty standards, Liyuchun is supposed to be more attractive because cheekbones but I find Gong Li with her "flat" face more beautiful than her - I'm not taking hairstyle or makeup into account, purely based on first glance. Again, feel free to disagree, I'd like to know what the general consensus is. I feel like the wide jawline also makes her face bulky and less "graceful" - for lack of a better word.

My view is that most Asians don't actually have high cheekbones, it's just wide and super broad but not actually defined, it's just a lot of bone that needs to be shaved but then you can't alter the forehead and jaw size which usually corresponds to width of cheekbones.

I mean, which face shape would you rather have?

So does anyone on here find high cheekbones attractive? Anyone have photos of what high cheekbones everyone is talking about because I prefer low cheekbones like Angelina Jolie or Heidi Klum, the kind that appear when you smile and give frontal definition to the face. I also think no cheekbones (like those smooth faced kpop stars) are better than high ones that sit on the side and expand your face. It's also why I never got the hype around Giselle Bundchen cuz her cheekbones made her look masculine and also made the asymmetry more obvious??

However, I have to say, Lucy Liu is the only one who actually looks good with the typical Asian high cheekbones. I mean, I don't exactly want her face, it's not the look I'm after but I can agree that it's attractive and I'm trying to figure out why she pulls the strong cheekbone look well and not most Asians - is it because her overall face is slimmer and longer and therefore the extra width balances it nicely? IDK.

I also think wide/high cheekbones age you (altho plastic surgeons say otherwise??) - anyone else agree? Because people with slim, straight face always look younger - can't explain why exactly, but they just do - have you noticed that when you grow older you start padding up around the jowls/jaw area? A small slim face (like a lot of children have) looks younger.

Examples of faces with no high cheekbones that I find attractive - not looking at coloring, purely just overall face shape

I'm keen to shave my cheekbones - I don't think they're high tho, just wide and bulky on the side of my face and it pisses me off so much when I take photos with friends and my face is always the BIGGEST ONE OUT THERE like that woman beside Kim, so much so I've stopped taking photos. Plus I've put on weight recently - IDK why it always goes to my face only and never anywhere else. So I look EXTRA PUFFY and BLOATED. I am going to shave my wide cheekbones but everyone keeps telling me it's "attractive" and keeps me looking young but I do not personally believe it - so I want to know your opinion since y'all def have more refined aesthetic views.

Sorry for the long post but I get very focused on something and I just can't stop lol.
