I just got some pictures from the Hidalgo 2010 collection that is being shown at the Hong Kong gift show. Gorgeous stuff!

My wedding band is from the Hidalgo 2002 collection. It is marvelous quality - similar in style to the ring in the upper left corner when you open this link. Except that mine is blue & green enamel with diamonds. It resembles ammolite or tanzanite in appearance and is tough as nails.

When I go in a store that sells their stuff, I want to buy it all.

I did not want a diamond and my husband is not allowed to wear any jewelry at his work, for safety reasons, so we spent a lot on my wedding band. I get compliments on it often, even yet.

I love their bands. Actually QVC started selling some of their stuff in enamel as well as the QVC Diamonique and it's beautifully made stuff.

I've admired this brand for years, but I have NEVER seen a single store that carries them. I don't know if that means it's not my style or I'm just not seeing them somehow. I would love to PLAY with the combos before selecting!

I agree, they are tough to find. In Canada, they are sold in only two stores that I know of - Birks in downtown Toronto and Birks in Vancouver. I also know of some store sin Boston and New York. We bought my wedding band in Aruba where we got married. My band is quite wide and I did not care for the diamond guards stacked with it, so I wear it bare.

OMG! I did not know this - but I went and checked it out online. Indeed, they are on QVC. I saw one ring for $63.96. I am flabbergasted, since my own wedding band was recently appraised at $6,500!

I think the Hidalgo line on QVC uses epoxy enamel which is a type of paint. The original Hidalgo uses real enamel (powdered glass).

The original Hidalgo is awesome jewelry; the quality is unbelievable. But I cannot believe that they are marketing a lower end product under the Hidalgo brand. Marketing 101 says you should not devalue a brand name by selling both high end and lower end product under the same name. Is the passerby going to know the difference?

It is something like my $3 fake Pandora that I bought in China before I even knew Pandora existed compared against my real Pandora bracelet filled with real Pandora charms. There is a tremndous difference, but who knows at first glance? After awhile everyone will think that they are all fakes.

I sent Hidalgo an email today. We'll see what they say, if anything.

Same thing Tacori and Verragio might say. They might look at it as far more exposure. Tacori does not do the same type of stuff from their regular line I don't think.

True, but you would have you know what you are looking at to tell the difference where the Hidalgo rings are concerned. Even just looking at the photos, you can tell the difference between the cheaper ones and the more expensive ones. And I have no doubt that the product sold on TV brings in a lot of money for Hidalgo. But boy, at first glance, I don't see a whole lot of distinction in design / appearance between the pictures of the ones sold on QVC and the ones in their new brochure.

I see that on QVC, it says "Hildalgo for Diamonique" or "Tacori for Diamonique". Maybe it is more akin to the concept "Marc Jacobs Collection" for Target or other similar designer lines for dept stores than it is to 'knock offs'?

I just would hate for Hidalgo to become synonampous with QVC so that everyone who sees a Hidalgo ring thinks it is a $63 ring. After seeing all the LV handbags from China being carried around by every co-ed in the city, there is no way I would fork over $1,000 for a real LV. I know the quality is there, but 9 out of 10 people are going to think that the real LV is a knock off from the nail salon down the street.

Ir seems to me it could go either way. I'll wait and see.....

There are a lot of high-end brands that sell on QVC (Judith Ripka, Ritani, etc.), but the differences between the QVC and the high end pieces are definitely noticable. I think these companies do it because it brings recognition to their brand, but I don't really think it devalues the "real" stuff. At least I hope it doesn't, because I have a real Tacori e-ring and I wouldn't want my ring associated with QVC. :wondering

Mt friends are telling me the same thing - that they don;t think selling another product from their line on QVC necessarily devalues the 'real' thing. Thanks for helping me to see the other side of it.
