hi all,
i'm in a bit of a watch dilemma...and am hoping to get lots of opinions on what i should go for...firstly am look at a hard wearing watch for work..my work watch at the moment is a tag kirium..its been a work horse for the past 8yrs....but i really want to update it...i want something with a larger dial....not too heavy (my j12 is so heavy i dont find it comfortable at work)..and classy and simple....that i can wear for ages...:smile1:

my two watch choices at the moment are:
1.tag black /steel ceramic watch

or
2. gents smaller size tag carrera
http://www.thewatchhut.co.uk/-TAG-HEUER-Gents-Carrera-Watch..html

tag ceramic-pros: price wise its almost half the price of the carerra, and the black and steel looks really smart and crisp but a little dressy at the same time. cons: the watch is slightly chunky i.e thickness which may feel starnge wen i wear gloves for work (i'm a dentist), also i'm not sure if the ceramic will be as durable and light as all steel watch..also there seems to be too many ppl wth ceramic watches going around at the moment...has it become too common with so many diff brands doing them..

tag carrera- pros: looks really amazing and sleek, not fussy, the dial really stands out. the brushed steel bracelet is very hard wearing as my kirium has simiar finish and hardly shows a scratch considering how long i've had it. also looks really classy and wont have to worry about it going out of fashion. cons: aside from price point, its automatic which i've never had so unsure how reliable it will be as i do wear differnt watches for work and for going out..so will i have to keep fixing the time every monday when i dont wear her on the weekend?..this may become a pain in neck....

i wont be buying anymore watches for a while..at the moment my main 3 go to watches are my must de cartier(for parties/dressy occasions), white 33mm j12 (casual wear), tag kirium (for work)...so i'd like something nice to add to my watch collection preferably with a black dial....(so its easier to read the time through the gloves at work)...

which one would you go for...and also if you have anyother suggestions of other watches that would be suitable for me..that would be great! thanks in advance!:D

I'ma go against the grain and say I like #2.
The Carrera, to me, seems like it would stand the test of time (excuse the pun!!) as it is more classic and perhaps less 'fashionable' than the ceramic.

thanks for all your opinions..i tried them both on in store and fell in love with the carrera...but my hubby like the formula 1 ceramic....lol...decisions descisions...(also not sure if he likes the other simply bcos its cheaper..though he'll never admit to it...)...

Typical man lol, go with what you like as you are the one that's got to wear it & if you don't get the one you like you may regret it, I listened to my DH when I got my TT Rolex yachtmaster & ended up selling it 2 years later one of the reasons was because I wanted to buy my love bangle but mainly because I just didn't like it much & I have now got a SS datejust which if I had got instead of the yachtmaster would of been a lot cheaper at the time & I feel bad saying this but I don't listen to my DH when buying jewellery or watches because he has a very different taste to me, I just let him pay do it lol

I prefer #1 .... I do see your point about ceramic watches being almost too popular right now, but the Tag Formula 1 has a great, clean look to it ... also, I have an automatic Tag and while I love the look of the watch, there are two things that drive me crazy: the first is what you mentioned, having to set and wind the watch if I haven't worn it in a day or two. The second is, silly me, I thought the price of an automatic would be mitigated by not having any maintenance .... but after wearing my Tag every day for a year, it stopped keeping time correctly. It would lose or gain a couple of minutes a day. The people at Tourneau told me it had to be sent off to be cleaned and adjusted, which meant I was without the watch for a couple of months and paid over $300. Maybe I should have known, but I was a newbie to this type of watch at the time and the message of Oh, Yeah, this is normal with automatics, was an unwelcome surprise. BTW, my husband has a Formula 1 that is about 5 years old and the original battery is still going strong!
