I happened to be in the Short Hills Hermes and they had the one I want black/gold in the back so I bought it. It is that pebbled leather. I plan to use it almost every day. Do I need to pre-treat the leather? Is putting the twillys on the handles to protect the leather or just decorative? It came with a "raincoat"- do I leave that in the purse and wrap it up if it rains?
Prior to this I have only had chanel, chloe, gucci, fendi, etc. I tend to be hard on my bags but I don't sell them but this bag I would like to keep nice forever if possible. Thanks for all your tips.

Congratulations! It's a nice bag. You can put a twilly on if you like. But I personally do not want to pre-treat my H leathers as I don't want to accidentally mess it up. I leave the "raincoat" in the box. But you could of course bring it with you if you prefer.

Thank you! It is plain and I just love it. I am not really a bag accessory sort of person but I tend to really use my stuff so it does get damage- I wasn't sure if the twilly thing was for decor or protection. I love the fact that the bag won't be recognized by mostly anyone.

I put a twilly on to protect the handles from dirt and oil----- especially if you use hand lotions and creams.

Thank you! That's what I thought they might be for- if I wanted to keep the bag looking plain, would you just get the black white bandana ones for each handle? The salesman recommended them but he had none.

If your bag is black, you really don’t *need* a Twilly to protect it too much... as the stains won’t show up like with lighter colors. Sounds like your bag is in Clemence leather. That is the heartiest leather there is. Clemence can stand the rain just fine! You have a wonderful workhorse bag. It will stand a beating and because it is black it won’t show the wear very much! Enjoy it

Thank you! I am afraid of lighter color stains from makeup etc. I never go anywhere these days so I thought it was best to buy one that would work for my everyday life!

Ah, I see.. personally, I wouldn’t worry. Clemence is a hearty leather! If you get some makeup on it, wipe it with a damp/wet towel and should be good to go. I mean..maybe if you dumped a whole thing of foundation on it or something it might be bad, but in black a quick cleaning should be good. If not, just order the most simple monochromatic Twilly you can find. Or maybe even a fun one that makes you smile everytime you see it. You never know, you may end up liking it!

Congratulations! In addition to the other great advice in this thread, you should have a little care booklet in your box that tells you how to take care of the leather, and you can also ask your SA at the store about care. The great thing about H is that when your bag needs a cleaning/refurbishing, you can send it to the H spa (you just need to drop it off at an H store and fill out paperwork, from what I understand).

You can get whatever color or design you prefer. I have a black purse and still put a twilly on it. When I grab it by the handle, even if I applied lotion, I don't really have to worry about it. I know that the leather is protected. It's a personal choice though. Some don't like the twilly----and that is okay too.

Congrats on your new bag!! I usually put a raincoat in the bottom of the bag just in case. If you use lotion or sunscreen daily, I would suggest you use twillys to protect the handles.
I have a valentino bag in black. The sunscreen sprayed on it, just one spot though, it cannot be removed, no matter how I tried... It is easily to see the spot on the bag because it’s black...

You all are so nice and helpful. Thank you. How do you think this would look on the handles?
Leopards...my favourite twilly  . It pairs so well with black and I'm sure tying a pair on your black L26 handles will be perfect if you're going for the monochrome look. Attached a collage for reference.

Thank you! That looks perfect! Is there any reason to order it from the shop and have him send it to me vs. just ordering online? I am not interested in obtaining other bags or anything.
