So today I was just killing time and decided to look around Filenes Basement and to my HUGE surprise in the fine jewlery kiosk they had Hermes desk clocks and a few watches. But are they original? Why is Hermes at an outlet store?

^^^It's not Hermes allowing it, it's through the grey market. It's on the thread I posted the link to above, and the place you mentioned, Filenes Basement, is also mentioned on the thread. If you've not read the thread, then please do. It answers your questions (and would have come up on a search), but here are some quotes:

I don't think they would be fake, I think watches are distributed in a different way to other Hermes goods and can be found in jewellery stores hence they enter the "grey market" i.e a distributor between the manufacturer and ultimate selling outlet. This is why it is easier for them to be picked up by retailers such as costco. I have seen many surprising things there in the past like Cartier, Montblanc, Lalique, Prada, Gucci and numerous high end designer sunglasses and eyeglasses

Grey market generally means authentic items not being sold by the authorized retailer. This sometimes voids the warranty, particularly with watches, so that's worth checking.

Just an FYI -- Filene's Basement has also had H watches. A couple of years ago, I bought an H-our watch there...AND got to use a "Take an extra 15% off" coupon too. Maybe there wasn't an orange bag but I didn't mind too much.

Wow, that is surprising! I'm definitely going to check my store. May I ask how they were priced?
