I've ordered over the phone from Chicago (or was it Dallas?) and my Amex was charged. I had no relationship with the store at all (I'm not even in the USA). I was referred to the store by Hermes.com.

The goods were shipped to a US address, not internationally.

Ok that s my experience with Paris, over a few years and a couple of stores: pre-ordered bags (birkins) are invoiced and settled by bank transfer. They can be shipped by hermes and the client pays for the courier and insurance. Nothing else is shipped and everythig else needs to be picked up in person or couriered to a Paris address. Paris does not accept credit card payments unless you are paying from France.

I've charged with my Amex over the phone with Boston and Dallas with no problem, having no relationship with either store, however they both charged me the same fairly high fee for shipping... $25 to ship a 90 carre!!!!

I had a scarf shipped from the US to the UK. They could only accept American Express [which thankfully DH had so he bought it for me:graucho:]. Was charged shipping and then had to pay import duty / tax when it arrived but was my grail scarf so happy...and it was back in the day when the scarves were affordable [before they started putting the price up twice a year!].
