Hello anyone going to Hermes Sale coming up in NYC? Have anyone been to the sale ? My friend said 2nd or 3rd days there are no good items and I heard many saying they don't bring out items either. Also heard this time is 7-9 am. Does that mean people will go line up at 2am?

Thank so much and hope to hear your experience.

Just to say, if you haven't been before -- I would personally *not* line up at 2am. The location is right by Penn Station, which was never a great area but has deteriorated significantly over the past 2 years.

My office is a 5-10 minute walk from the location, and I agree: not a safe environment.

I might try to go on Wednesday - I already rsvp’d. However, the timeframe is during work hours so it’s a big maybe.

Perhaps this is only for Wednesday (not Thursday), the email did state that you need to rsvp due to covid, invitation admits one person only, present a valid picture ID, and use credit card only.

Personally haven’t heard that the sale is just from 7-9am. Most articles, including this one from ********, say the time is from 9am to 7pm. Went to the last day for the NYC sample sale back in 2019 and RTW and most other things were very picked over. They still did have some shoes, enamel jewelry and men’s ties.

Okay…quick thoughts on today’s private sale. It was held from 12pm to 6pm. I arrived at the location around 5pm.

There was security at the closed entrance. When I got to to door, there was one other person asking about the hours and protocol for tomorrow. Security only stated that today you needed an invitation and that they’re not sure how people will be let in tomorrow. The person asked if she should start waiting in line at 6:30am, to which security replied in a non-committal yes/no. Security saw me and I said I have the email. He told me to quickly come through and check in. So I did, stating my name and then checking in my bag and taking with me only my phone and wallet.

Two flights of stairs took me to the show floor. Women and men’s shoes lined the perimeter on one side; jewelry lined the opposite side; silks, hats, swimsuits and RTW occupied the center.

The selection — definitely from two years ago.

Shoes: By the time I got there, the shoe selection had been picked through and there was nothing in my size range that made my eyes pop. I saw some sneakers, no orans, other strappy sandals, and some ankle boots.

Silks: A decent selection of 90s, mainly Animapolis and Equateur. There were side bins of random 45s and 55s. One box had maybe less than a handful of maxi cut Twillys, twillys, and twillons. There were at least two displays of 140s. The men’s selection yielded a few large losanges and pocket squares. Purchase was limited to 3 for each size, I think.

Jewelry: The leather items were very random. Almost picked up a gris mini dog clous rond. Enamels were decently represented - divided in sections of silver, gold and RG. There were many bangles in varying widths, with Animapolis being the dominant design. No Clic H. There was an assortment of hinged bracelets, primarily Animapolis and Feline Tendresse. The single color hinged bracelet available that I saw was rose candeur. Purchase was limited to 2 per style.

RTW: Women’s knit - very limited (almost non-existent). There was a moderate selection of dresses and coats/jacket. Men’s RTW looked a little more robust.

Miscellaneous: Cute hats and gloves selection.

Check out was smooth. No drama and absolutely no pictures allowed (that I saw).

Overheard: Yes, the sale continues the next 2 days open to everyone. There won’t be much restocking said one person ( but who knows if that’s true) and everything already displayed today must go!

Not a bad experience - I finished in under an hour and rushed out. The people involved in this sale were very professional and nice. I saw items constantly refolded and restacked for a maximum clean presentation. Someone even said “Goodbye (insert my name)” as I left. Not sure who that was but may have been someone from my home store.

I believe it was 50% off almost all items across the board. RTW was 60% off.

The sale is worth checking out if you’re in the area. There still should be a healthy variety of silk and enamel jewelry available. And if you’re into cute men’s tops - well that does it.

People was camped out overnight for the sale. Curious how someone was able to take photos. At the Manhasset sale the protocols was strict about check in and no photos. For most sales the best time to shop is VIP. So far for this sale I haven't heard time limits to shop and the lines are very, very long for the public sale.

Looking at some of the instagram stories from today, I am so glad that I did not go today. I set my alarm for 4AM and was nearby but just couldn't bring myself to do it. I then learned that people had started camping out at 6PM last night. The line was 100 people deep by 1AM. For 2 year old stock, nearly no shoe stock, and blah jewelry, I will save my money. My time and sanity is worth so much more these days. Now, if fine jewelry ever makes an appearance at these sales I may rethink my my approach. For those on the VIP invite list, how do you suppose you scored that invite? I am a loyal customer, but not a local customer.

So I wanted to give you an update of the Hermès sale in New York City.
I initially wanted to leave my house at 7 AM to be there by 7:30, but I couldn’t bring myself to wake up that early. I was able to arrive at the sample sale at 9 AM. The line extended from 33rd St. to around the corner down 9th avenue and up 34th St. At the time I arrived I was at the end of the line. From 9 AM to exactly 1:51 PM I made it to the main parking lot where people start queuing to go inside .I didn’t make it to the front of the line till 530 pm . Many people were turned away, after hearing conversation most of the people who were turned away are people who showed up around 9:30 AM. From what I gathered people started queuing in line the night before starting at 8 PM. By 2 AM there is a line of 100 people. There was a lot of people bringing portable chairs and making friends with their neighbor to take restroom breaks and to buy food.
Finally when I entered, you have to check your bags inn and then you can proceed to the third-floor. In my personal opinion the best selection that had the most variety I would definitely say would be women’s shoes to scarves. The jewelry selection was OK there seem to be a lot of enamel bracelets but the line was long. As far as men’s they had men’s clothing and shoes. I did see some towels, hats, gloves and ties . All items were 50% off. When I got in the only downfall was my group was only given 20 minutes versus other people had 50 minutes. I did see a blanket for $10,000 and some sandals for $1500. There was a good selection of leather bracelets also . I did purchase a cashmere scarf and that was about it. I suggest if you want to go get there early in the morning to get dibs on the best item.
All the sales associates were extremely professional and very courteous which made the experience much better. Please keep in mind if you’re planning on going they do not except cash, only credit cards. I hope this review helps. And yes they are strict with cameras but I think if you act like your texting and you’re discreet I don’t think they will know .
The blue blanket is the one I mentioned and scarf is what I bought .( available in red also )
