Hermes Mini Chaine Verrou vs Chanel Classic Flap Small?

Hi ladies, I’m currently in a dilemma whether to buy a black box mini chaine verrou or a black Chanel classic flap. Chanel has been increasing their prices ever so often that I’ve been regretting not getting one years ago when the price was much lower. It has always been my dream bag when I was young but I ended up starting on my Hermes journey so I never bought it. On the other hand, a box calf leather bag is a dream and the verrou is just so elegant and tiny and I love small bags. I worry that I’ll regret not buying the classic flap again when the price increases, but I’m also worried that I may not appreciate it as much as my other bags if I get it as too many people have a classic flap these days and it’s just not as exclusive anymore. Let me know your thoughts please ❤️ TIA ❤️

The Chanel will be easier to sell and retain more of its value if you later decide you made the wrong choice.

If the Chanel flap is your dream bag, part of you will always want it. I'd get it now before the price increases even more! Also agree with @acrowcounted re: resale value.

neither bag: if you truly cannot decide between the two, you may not want either enough, and I would wait

you said the chanel was your dream bag when you were young, but you’ve moved to H, and you think the CF is somewhat ubiquitous.

A box verrou is not a bag I would think to buy at retail price bc it’s value will likely decline
re recession, it’s possible that you may be able to find a Verrou for less.

ive toggled in preference between chanel and Hermes, and the majority of bags I wear are Hermes.
i like very few chanel bags in theory, but for the most part, my style has changed.

I agree. Other than the black cf, there’s nothing I really want at Chanel. Tbh I actually don’t wanna get my bags from resellers even if it’s cheaper. Only you can answer the regret or FOMO re not buying the chanel at the current price. The flip side is will you regret paying full price for the verrou that you do love, only to see it for a third of the price at resellers

if you feel you have to have one of them, why not ask yourself if the price you will pay at full retail can be recouped by cost per wear

Actually I’m planning to buy the verrou either way, possibly after my qb. The verrou is for collection as I really want a box leather in a verrou, it looks absolutely stunning. I don’t actually know why people buy non qbs just to resell it because they don’t fetch a good price anyway, but I guess I’ll just save the verrou for another time and pull the trigger on a cf before the next price increase

This is why I love Verrou and will get one someday. Such juxtaposition.

To keep in topic, I am resigned to any price increases since I have decided to enter this 'game'. Obviously what I buy must make sense to me financially but I don’t care about price increases. i get what I can get. Ie if Verrou box is offered now, I would take now as it’s rare. Esp if like you, I only want to buy from the store.
