Hermès men's winter 2024

I didn't see a thread about the show, so here it is.

Thank you for opening this thread and the link, dear Carrie8,

I feel I am rather on the more unpopular side:
I really liked the collection, the colours, quite some pieces, especially the leather-silk(?) scarves - DH definitely doesn't want any more cashmere losanges or carrés, because after one or two wears there is already quite some pilling / knots (despite being shaved!).
Please excuse getting a bit OT here: If anyone from Hermès is reading here: pretty please: he would really appreciate large losanges and 100s carrés in very fine cotton-silk blend. And we look forward to when fashion returns to fitting well-tailored shoulders instead of overcut ones...).

super boring, uninspired, nothing new

we've seen those raincoats and leather overcoats before, season after season, just in different colors and materials

if it wasn't Hermès people wouldn't even pay attention to this nonsense
Took the words right out of my mouth.

Some words of my own: The collection is, at best, derivative. And at worst, it’s not even good enough for me to pick up my dog’s sh*t with. I wish the Hermès design team would step away from this "Limitless Credit Card Holder cosplays as Alt-Edgelord (who may have also been an extra in the Matrix movies)" style they've been proudly shoveling out for the past few seasons. Not upset, just disappointed. Do better, Hermès.

Interesting colours, 100 shades of grey? Almost everything colour had grey added, grey-black, grey-green, grey-yellow, grey-lilac, grey-brown, obviously H feels muted.

Silhouettes were oversized but without shoulders. Not sure how many men that will suit. Outerwear layered tanks? They've never sold well before.

Not sure how I feel about shiny suits, even for winter evenings. They made think Italian tailoring rather than French. And with patent shoes :nono:

How many men wear leather trousers these days? Suddenly, I'm back in Berlin with a wall around me 🧱 :rochard: .

H, stop with the patches of leather now, Burberry did them '10s and so did H men's. Burberry stopped, H is has been stitching leftover skin to everything for years :ok:

My picks were the black-on-black pony-skin coat and jacket outfits. So uniform and velvety, it looks like foal (sorry :btdh: ). I'm not attracted by Bond villains, I just want to be one. I already have 2 hair-calf jackets from Gucci so all baby horses are safe from me.

I'd invest in one of the leather scarf-snoods, I would.

I respect both of your opinions, but its more likely your tastes just aren't suited for what their target audience is. I'm interested to know what shows you felt were "good enough" or "new/inspiring".

Is that issue with the cashmere very common? I liked the collection as well, its pretty safe but well executed.

I'm not sure - as a non-native speaker - what you understand by "common". If you mean whether my DH gets pilling quickly with cashmere: yes, absolutely. The growing "stubbles" inevitably lead to pilling when he wears losanges and carrés directly on his neck ... I cannot comment on how it is with others, but I would find it interesting how beard stubble could not cause pilling and very happy to get some tips (that is why he likes wearing cotton scarves inside cashmere collars/turtle necks). The few cotton pieces (losanges/triangle) he has been able to buy from H hold up better, but are small and in quite limited designs. And to not get too OT: The scarves presented on the catwalk - the combination with leather as well as the muted colours and designs are very much to our liking and taste.

Thanks for sharing your experience, and yes the leather is a nice touch. I'm really interested in what they would be able to do for special orders in terms of ready to wear.
