Hi, I've been eyeing on the Hermes Kelly Pochette for quite a long time. But my local SA told me that it is extremely rare and it is only available in swift leather. But I've seen some people offered Kelly Pochettes in other leathers such as Evercolor or Box. Can anyone tell me what are the current leather options for Kelly Pochette? In terms of availability, is it the most difficult bag style to get in the US? I'm afraid that I might go the pre-loved route as I almost give up being offered a Kelly Pochette in Hermes store.

It is extremely limited and therefore hard to get, especially because they’re not quota bags so the vvvips can be offered them with no loss to their two quota bags a year. Current standard leather selections I believe are limited to only swift. Box leather ones do exist but those would be push orders and thus impossible to predict. They also come in exotics. If your SA is saying your chances aren’t good, I’d take her word for it and either wait patiently or try the secondary market.

The competition in my local store is fierce and I think I probably should go for a pre-loved one. What do you think would be a reasonable price range for a preloved Kelly Pochette? I saw them ranging from $8500 to $15000 USD in pre-loved market. Do you think a pre-loved Box Kelly Pochette in 2006 with minor marks worth around $10000 USD? I never thought a Kelly Pochette over 10 years would be that much expensive...
I don’t think we are supposed to talk price but no, I don’t think that’s reasonable at all. I wouldn’t write off swift if I were you. The KP is basically a sellier (seams out) bag and holds its shape very well as long as you don’t abuse it. Swift would certainly show less use than box. If I were going to pay the premium for resale and was worried about shape, I’d probably go for Epsom since that’s not even available straight from the store anymore.
Thank you for your advice! I do agree $10k is a lot for a 2006 Box Kelly Pochette. If the year stamp is within recent 5 years, that would justify the premium, right? But recently with COVID, the resale prices of Hermes have gone up insanely. Hopefully I will find a reasonably priced KP...
I think they are currently in extra low production while H concentrates on higher priced bags to help their sales goals. This both hurts your chances of getting one directly from the store and doubly by lowering resale inventory/increasing prices. In 2019 one could easily find them in the $7k-8k range.
It was back in 2019 when I was hunting for one. Fashionphile and the RealReal. Now there is hardly even inventory to look at.
But H seems to go in waves. Just when there are none to be found, a large batch is released so I don’t know. It’s tough to be patient but it’s typically a necessity with Hermes.Now the price of KP is crazy! I've barely seen any popping up under $9k. I will keep a close watch at Fashionphile and RealReal...
yes from this season onwards you can even do multico combo, but it will takes up your quota for the only spot. therefore quite rare people will go for KP as an SO order.
It was extremely difficult for me to get one from the store and I would not do it again. Birkin and kelly are readily available and no headache for me or my Sa. I would go the reseller route for a kp but I would not do it right now because reseller prices are completely insane now for preloved and brand new.
Swift is not my favourite leather although I know many people here love swift. I cannot stand or accept the handle going out of shape for swift kps and it looks unsightly to me (just my opinion). In fact if I can choose I will go for epsom - but at resellers epsom kp prices are beyond insane cos it’s so rare.
I think an ostrich or croc kp is divine too. I have never seen any Chevre or box in recent years.

I don't love swift as it can slouch badly over time, but I can live with it if ever I get offered a KP!
Do you really need a KP? If so, what color/hardware? If you are very picky, the right combo may never arrive - boutique or reseller.
